Shut eye

After diner we are left to explore. Me and Toby follow some others back to the sleeping quarters. A large basement like room with beds scattered. On the opposite wall where two huge bathrooms. Toilets and showers. Me and Toby pick beds and tried to relax. More and More people come in and lay down.

"Oh come on Zeke, we gotta play" A female dauntless born says as they crash down next to us.

"Marline, it's too early to play that game, we got Stiff that probably will chicken out" Zeke laughs looking at up.

"Urg, you'r no fun anymore, what happened to rebel Zeke who had parties all the time" Marline scoffs.

"He probably died the minute he jumped off the building. Too scared of initiation. " I chime in smirking.

Zeke scoffs and holds his chest in fake shock. "How dare you" he laughs. Marline laughs too.

"Hi, Im Marline, you must be Scar, the first jumper" She says to me.

"Hi" I say back unsure of what to say.

After a moment the lights shut off in the room and everyone gets quiet.

"Ok, how about instead of that game, how about good old fashioned 20 questions" Marline continues.

"Sounds interesting, you in?" Zeke asks us and nudges Tobias.

"Maybe another time" Toby mutters and turns over.

"Grumpy" Zeke says.

"Its been a long day" I say and get situated back in bed. After that it was quiet the rest of the night. I however couldn't sleep. Realizing that my moms scented candles always put me to sleep. This is going to be a long month. I turn over now looking out at the sea of beds. Zeke's is right in front of mine facing the other way. The red faint light in the room shows his face. His face is burrowed yet soft. Maybe my accusation was right. I'm sure all of us are scared.

The night goes on and eventually Im not the only one still awake. Toby thrashes in his sleep before shooting up awake. panting he looks over to me. the read light showing my concerned face. He nods at me to reassure me he's ok. I mouth out to him, "we have each other" and he nods again. He lays back down before sticking his hand out to me, knowing full well, I hold it till hes back asleep. I'll do whatever it takes to make sure we make it through this. I mutter in my head before placing his hand back on his own bed. I turn over and see Zeke quickly close his eyes pretending to be asleep.

"Nice try coward" I whisper at him. He chuckles and continues to stay "asleep".

Before I know It I and dozing myself.

I wake to the loud sound of metal against metal.

"Rise and shine losers, time to train." says Amar dropping a lead pipe. "Get dressed and meet me in the training room in 10" he ads before leaving.

I look around and see that chests have arrived at the ends of our beds. I see others pulling clothes from it.

I get up and notice Tobias is already gone as well as Zeke and Marline. I hurry up and sift through the chest to find active wear. I head to the bathroom and change quickly. I come back to my bed and notice sneakers are under it. I put them on and quickly make the bed before leaving. Following the other initiates to the training room.

Waiting by the door it the three of them.
"Good morning sunshine" Zeke chuckles along with the other two.

"Shove off, thumb sucker" I say shaking my head and stand against the wall with Toby.
