Giver Alternate Ending

Hey y'all this is my first fanfic. Fun fact I actually wrote this as an assignment for my English class. This fic will only be one chapter as I am not in the Giver fandom and only wrote this bc my teacher required it. But I have decided to post it regardless. I hope you enjoy

When Jonas woke up he was in a small cottage in the woods. It was quite cozy and warm. The sun was shining in from the large bay window adjacent to his bed. Oh how good it felt to sleep in a bed, he thought. Suddenly a small female who looked about 25 walked through the doorway, startling Jonas slightly. She had dark brown hair and hazel green eyes. Her hair was in a messy bun like formation on the top of her head. She was wearing a cream colored lounge set that brought out her eyes.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," the kind woman said," I'm Avella. My husband, Sebastian, made lunch. When you're ready of course. We rescued you from a mountain not to far from here"

"Thank you, I'm Jonas" He replied "Do you know where Gabriel is?"

"If by Gabriel you mean the baby you were holding when you got here," Jonas nodded and Avella continued "He's with Sebastian in the living room."
"If you'd like, I can show you to the kitchen so you can eat and meet Sebastian."
"That would be great, thank you."

When Jonas entered the Living room that was combined with the Kitchen, There was a man, who he assumed was Sebastian. He was about 6 feet tall and had steel blue eyes that complemented his dark brown hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and baggy grey pants. Gabriel was lying on Sebastian's chest fast asleep. Gabe looked so peaceful sleeping there.

"There's a couple of sandwiches in the Kitchen if you're hungry. I'm sure Ella told you, but my name is Sebastian and I'm glad to have you in our home."

"Thank you Sebastian," Jonas said gratefully

"You're Welcome," Jonas said and Sebastian smiled

"So I hear you came from another community," Sebastian said to Jonas.

"Yes Sir. I was the receiver in training; I was the one to carry all the memories for my community."

" Her father," referring to Avella," Was a low ranked political leader. Right before the Chief Elder plan was going to be put into action, Avella's was able to smuggle both of us out. Apparently, The chief elder was tired of the chaos of running a community so he planned to blow it up. I am eternally grateful for him.

"Ella was friends with many of the elders. Soon word spread about the truth of release and our community was about to be deemed the title of failed. Avella and I were able to escape. We were only 12 back then." he chuckled to himself, " I still don't know how I ended up with such an outstanding wife." Sebastian said as he kissed Avella.

"So how did you escape?" Sebastian asked Jonas
"I was the receiver in training, the one to carry the burden of memories. After learned the trust me and the current made a plan so me and Gabriel could escape,"

"It was very kind of you to bring Gabriel with you. He sleeps surprisingly well for someone of his age."

"He seems to be settling in quite well"

"If you would like to, you are welcome to stay here as long as you would like, forever even. Avella and would love to have you in our home." Sebastian said

"Thank you, I don't know where I would go if I didn't have a place here."

"Since you're staying, We can set up a crib in our room for Gabe. So you'll have your own room, Jonas." said Avella

"I have some old clothes that might fit you in my room If you would like to look." Sebastian said

"Thank you Sebastian." said Jonas

"You can call me Seb or Dad if you'd like, Sebastian is also fine as well."
"Ok, Dad"

After Jonas had been at his new home for around a year he finally felt like he had a real home. His new parents Avella and Sebastian, whom he called Mom and Dad made him feel loved and cherished just how he should have felt in his new home. Gabriel was also doing well. He was finally walking and babbling. Avella loved to dress him in cute outfits. While, Sebastian loved to take afternoon naps on the couch with Gabe. Avella and Sebastian made sure to treat both boys as their own. Jonas was finally at peace.
