(Emma's Prov)

"MOM-MOM MOM!!!!!" I plead to wake her up. "She's dead Emma," Kurtis said. I was completely distraught. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" I felt betrayed by everyone I loved "because the future insisted I not tell you," Kurtis said he picks his nails. "What aren't you telling me, Kurtis?" I controlled his mind "your mom didn't want me to tell you because she didn't want to scare you so she told me to lie. Kurtis said I sigh I could blame her. I'd do the same thing if I were her. "No that makes sense Kurtis, I'd done the same thing I was her," I said suddenly a bunch of sirens came up to us "you gave us the music career why we are jerks to you," one girl said with pink long hair with a ponytail. I never wanted fame, I just wanted to prove my worth. "Fame isn't what I wanted, I just wanted to prove to you a mermaid can sing with practice and patients." I said "Take the music career you guys are really good," I said everyone hugged me. "You're not half bad," The girl said "It's true," Thomas said I looked over at him and everyone bowed, including me. "Thomas I didn't realize you were here," I said "It took a lot of convincing from my father but I came to see what Kurtis was talking about seems you won the first prize," Thomas said "Yeah I did it took a lot of work but I did it," I said I felt good about my win. "I can see why Thomas finds you special," Thomas said. Suddenly, The king called Thomas. Thomas starts to swim off but then looks back and smiles. I wave back. I wonder what Thomas meant by what he said.

The next day I go to school Kurtis isn't there, nobody's I know there it's quiet. I remember my mom's death. What did that mean for Kurtis? Suddenly everyone headed to the auditorium and Kurtis stood on stage. "Everyone the former sea witch is dead and now Kurtis resume full responsibility for the job. I know many of you were friends with him but he will not attend school anymore to start reading fortunes of mermaids and sirens like us if there are any questions.... " the words start to fade I now didn't have my best friend I look over next to me and see the girl with a pink ponytail. "Emma you ok you look sick," she asked my best friends were gone. Emotions flood like a tsunami. I look around and walk away when the exit of the auditorium cop stops me. "Where are you going?" he asked with a hand on his hip. Another teacher put a hand on his shoulder "let her go she just lost her mom," He said "I'll go with her," he said. He follows me to a bench as I begin to sob. "You can tell me as much or as little as you like. I'm here," he said. I just cried as kids walked past me. The singing group sits down and Kurtis.

A few days later we took the body of my mother to the sender. The whole southern Maine community sat together to watch her be turned into the foam of the sea. "Mireya was a good lady she told people about many prophecies like the one about the war on the Pacific side or where trash island is but today a new star in the sky as we turn her mortal body into the foam of the sea now we must all touch her body as she touched ours and that magic will bring her to the next realm of life" I remember there were so many hands-on her and yet one person didn't lay there hand on her. Troy. We had lunch as I noticed the foam floating in the air. I wave at it. I look around and notice everyone there but Thomas and Kurtis I went to look for them. I find them in a pile of seaweed snuggle. "Bad place to snuggle," I said Kurtis screams "relax it's only Emma," Thomas said "You two are going to get caught" I lectured "I know we are maybe we should stop seeing each other" Thomas said "Your right I won't have time for you with my new job," Kurtis said Thomas tears up "can I have one last I love you," Thomas said holding Kurtis's cheek. Kurtis kisses him. Thomas hugs him in tears. "I thought I was the emotional one," Kurtis said in tears. "Shut up and let me hug you," Thomas said "Ok love, ok," Kurtis said "Thomas, I love you," Kurtis said they stood there for a while before letting go. Thomas and Kurtis swim off. They look back at each other then they look at me. They both point at me. Then walk off.

I turned seventeen which meant I was old enough to mate, I didn't see my name until February that's when I swam to the surface. I swam every day until February 2, 2009 I'd thought I'd lost all hope. Then a new man walks by. I knew who he was, He was the king everyone bows down to. I get my human legs. He walks over to some random girls before walking over to me. "Emma good to see you here," he said "I just got my summon to be here," he said "Finding people's hard," I said "Seems so" Thomas responded "I wish I had Kurtis" Thomas complained I missed him too he'd been so busy. "Me too" I replied "you know you're the only one I can talk to everyone else just seems to talk to me like. Like" I interrupt him'' "You're a king, Thomas you are more than a king" I said Thomas smiles. "I feel normal around you," Thomas said. I felt this giddy and bubbly feeling I haven't felt since I was little. "I feel like a child when I'm around you," I said. Wait, did this mean that Thomas was my mate? That meant I'd be the future queen. "Emma, will you be my future Queen?" Thomas asked. I stared at him in awe. I trusted him so I took his hand and we went somewhere private and had a nice night.
