The Downpour

My dad helped me pull Aydan inside the house after standing so calmy in the downpour outside, waiting for someone to answer the door. I walked him slowly to the kitchen and my dad returned to his room upstairs with my mom. He sat gently on a stool while I ran to grab the first aid kit. His lip was busted and his knuckles were bruising but no stitching was needed.

"I'm gonna clean this okay?" I asked as calmly as I could and he nodded softly acknowledging that he understood.

"Don't break me, princess." He mumbled and I smiled slightly. I grabbed the alcohol and wiped the blood from around the cut, as softly and as gently as my hands would allow me to. I went to the freezer so that I could start icing his hands before they could get any worse.

"This is gonna hurt, your gonna wanna hold onto something," I mumbled and he grabbed my waist. I dabbed his lip causing him to tighten his grip on my waist. I pinched the split on his lip together for a bit and the bleeding stopped. Then I hugged him as tightly as his body would allow.

"I missed you." I sighed into his chest. Loud enough for him to hear.
