The Lost Lantern

~5 years later~

"Where do you wanna go now?" I asked Flynn after our picnic

"Is it okay if I go get some sleep?" he asks politely

I can't help but get disappointed but I kept on smiling...he didn't remember my birthday "Okay" I managed to say and then, he took one step closer and kissed my forehead before walking away

I watched his retreating figure before I sat down on the bench...I looked around our garden full of colorful, blooming flowers and I took a deep breath, smelling the sweet fragrance

Just then, a cool breeze blew and I knew right then that he's here

"Happy 18th Birthday Rachel!" I turned to him with a grin...I stood up and embraced him...He hugged me back and I slowly pulled away only to see him holding a bouquet of jasmine

My smile became wider as I took it from him, taking in the sweet scent of the flowers..."Thank You Jack" I say

"My pleasure!" he says as he bows to me teasingly...I let out a giggle at his silliness...atleast someone greeted me today...my parents doesn't even care

"So...how was your picnic?" Jack asks awkwardly...I know he doesn't like me hanging out with Flynn but too bad for him...Flynn's my boyfriend now

"Oh...it was great" I say, although I hated the part that Flynn totally forgot about my birthday

Jack just nods in response and I cleared my throat "How was your day?" I ask hoping to lighten up the mood

"Oh...it was fun...I just played pranks on the kids and...messed with Bunny's egg hunt" he says with a smll smirk...I chuckled at that

I spent the rest of the day in my room talking to Jack, but he had to go to North Pole to help North with some things and I got disappointed once again

"Hey, I'll visit tomorrow, I promise" he says before he flew out the balcony...I walked towards my bed and laid there, staring at the blank ceiling

My eyes began to get heavy when a knock on the door made me sat up in a jolt..."Who is it?"

"It's me Your Majesty...Dinner is ready" Ellen's voice says at the other side of the door

"I'll be right there" I got up and brushed my short brown hair before placing my crown on top...remembering my mother telling me that my twin sister had blonde golden hair and green eyes like mine...I can't forget the twinkle in my mother's eyes when she talked about her...I know they loved her more than they love me

I shook the memory away and walked out of my room

When I passed by the ballroom,I was surprised to see kings and queens, princes and princesses from the neighboring kingdom, gathered around and music is echoing around the room....I looked down to what I was wearing and turned bright red

I'm only wearing an ordinary dress while the people here are wearing elegant dresses and suits...I was about to run back to my room when my parents greeted me... "Happy Birthday Darling!" My mother says with a smile on her face

I was stunned but I smiled back "Thank You mother" I replied and my father immediately embraced me...I can't help but cry...I've always thought they didn't care for me...

I told them that I'll go change into a decent attire before running back to my room...I chose a gold gown with blue laces and a gold lace heels...I didn't bother applying make up and went back out

We had our dinner and Flynn came in wearing a tuxedo and asked me to dance...We danced with the rest of the princes and princesses until Flynn suddenly stopped and stared straight into my eyes

My heart skipped a beat when he knelt down on one knee and took out a small red box...he opened it, revealing a gold ring adorned by small twinkling diamonds...

"Princess Rachel Corona, as cliche' as it sounds,you made my life worth living and gave light to my dark world...I will be the happiest man alive if you do me the honor of being my wife..." he says "Will You Marry Me?"

"Yes!" I yelled as tears blurred my vision and a huge smile was plastered on my face...He beamed and slipped the ring into my finger before he carried me up and spinned me around...I let out a loud laugh

Applause echoed all around the room and I saw the lanterns outside the windows...I looked around but my parents aren't around...

I shook the thought away, I have Flynn now and that's all I wanted...I can't wait to tell Jack tomorrow
