Thomas knew his business was on the verge of failing if he wasn't fast to gather new creators. Right after the production team left to edit and produce their first season of 'Hype House', Thomas quickly tried his best to gather those new creators. With the news of Alex and Kouvr, as well as other Hype House members moving out, this was the perfect time to try and find new recruits as he would have space in the house to provide for them. While it didn't take long to offer a place to flourish for some creators, including Renata and already exisiting member Vinnie, Thomas wasn't satisfied. He wanted someone with different branding from the other members of the Hype House, someone who could bring in an audience that wasn't already emerged with their pre-existing audience. Someone who wasn't new to the social media life, but someone who was in their peak.
And that's when he called her.
Kat. Nobody knew her real name, almost like a Caleb Finn situation, however no last name given. Maybe it was an Australian thing, to keep their identity a secret, but unlike Caleb, Kat was from a different life. 'The Ghetto' she merely joked around with her fans, talking about her living environment in one of Australia's capitals: Adelaide. She didn't come from a rich family, living with her mother and babushka – her grandmother who immigrated to Australia from Russia during the Second World War when she was a baby. Kat looked up to the two of them, however wasn't too fast to get their approval on her style and life decisions. Especially when she told them she was moving to California for a few months to see how a new business plan would go. And yet while they screamed and cried for her to stay, while also telling her to never come back – indecisive like most ethnic families – there she was, boarding the plan.
It was the most irritating plane ride, the longest 18 hours Kat had ever endured. The screaming baby sat behind her made things worse, and the earplugs provided by the airline company didn't help at all. However whenever she was close to snapping at the mother to keep her child quiet, she reminded herself of one thing: Thomas is paying for everything. When reminding herself of things like that, it made her anger issues less impulsive. Those were one thing she struggled with, yet that was also her branding. An angry Australian teenager with a drug problem, which was thankfully, not as bad as Rue's from Euphoria. Yet when living in the Adelaide version of "The Ghetto", it was a very average thing. There was almost no friends Kat had from back home that weren't taking drugs.
One thing about Thomas paying for the whole trip though, was that he had conditions. Firstly, she had to sober up. No more cocaine, opioids, ecstasy – none of that. Thankfully though, he let her off the hook when it came to weed, which in Kat's mind will be the only thing that'll make her "frat boy rehab" experience bearable. Secondly, she had to post on their Hype House account. This, Kat was already expecting and didn't understand why this was such a large condition. She was becoming a member of the Hype House, of course she would have to post. Whatever reason why Thomas had to make this so clear was beyond her. And lastly, she had to be apart of their second season of their reality show. Their first season was a month away from premiering, and Netflix was already expecting it to be a massive hit. According to Thomas, a second season would most definitely be happening. While Kat completely forgot they were coming out with a reality show, she agreed, reluctantly.
While she was great at her content, editing her videos, interacting with her fans, she enjoyed her privacy. But, she understood that when it came to the Hype House she wouldn't get as much privacy as what she had became accustomed to. Yet, with knowing all of the conditions and those that come with the package of the Hype House, Kat was excited to branch out. To edit videos with new creators and live in a different perspective.
And so, when the plane landed in Los Angeles, Kat took a deep breath – preparing herself for everything she may experience in her new life.
