Arnav always had a difficulty saying sorry, but he did feel apologetic. He lays awake on the bed turned to his side, not knowing how to approach Khushi.
Khushi too laid awake turned to her side. Her walk with Babuji and a heart-to-heart with Devi Maiyya had helped her put things into perspective. She realized she had stepped her bounds too, made him lose his comfort, felt him insulted in front of everyone and so far he had put up with everything. Moreover, she got to know from Buaji that he had resolved the matter with her pension that's why he was so late from the office today. Also that his work is getting affected handling everything remotely, yet he stayed longer for her.
She had felt him change, get assimilated with her family, helping Buaji with groceries, do menial works like fixing stuff around the house like a son would, helping Babuji with specialists, eat Amma's food with love. He had called himself "Iss ghar ka Damad [their son-in-law]" and had taken care of each one here in his own way.
Hadn't he got gol-gappa today only for her, she knows that because of the way he was staring and enjoying her eat it. Perhaps he was sorry? She knows he can never say the words.
She turned to face him, observing. Hey DM, Why is he so difficult.. is he a Rakshash or a Rajkumar [A prince or a beast]? And why does she feel this way about him.. shouldn't she stay away? Shouldn't she hate him for doing what he had said and done? Yet she feels the yearning, a need to reach out and calm him because she knows he is awake and tormented too perhaps?
He was something she had never ever thought would happen to her. But we are not mere thinking creatures... we are feeling creatures. And she feels for him, can't do without giving faraq to this man.
Can't you fix me too.. he had said, she wonders why?
A moment of realization hit her. He married her forcefully because he thinks he is incapable of love. Perhaps he thinks nobody dares to come close to him because of his anger, therefore nobody could love him? That he is a Rakshash and can never be a Rajkumar? How dare he think so low of himself...
Overwhelmed she reaches out, her cheeks pressed to his back, embracing him, offering her love.
He turns disbelievingly and hugs her too, tightly, relief etched on his face, thankful that she reached out first ending his anguish.
She then looks up, lifts her eyes to face him , so many feelings, all confusing, all compelling. Cupping his cheek, she presses her lips to him, kissing slowly tenderly, caressingly, showering him with all the held up unnamed feelings she has for him...
In time the lips grew from gentle, tender to exploring, maddening... lingering... her kisses grew deeper, teeth nipping gently, tongue tasting, playing...
He is astonished, wondering what's come over her. Khushi had never initiated the kiss before. All she had to do earlier was merely turn her face to his side and his restraint would slip. He didn't, couldn't wait, couldn't think he should, because he didn't know she wanted him too.. so he always initiated first. But now, Khushi has come close to him herself.. is this all a dream? Fearing the spell would break, he doesn't move.
Khushi was getting impatient as to why Arnav is not responding. She breaks the kiss to look at him questioningly, fearing if he doesn't want this...doesn't want her.
Arnav understood the silent question. He took her wrist and traced her hand over the bulge in his trousers, making her feel the effect she has on him, as if answering her "how could I not be affected, how could I not want you?"
