 ~//MORTAL WORLD// NINJAGO CITY//~

//Unknown//

A woman sat in the corner of an old abandoned warehouse. Her black eyes darted to the source of every small noise. Her chest hammered, and fear stabbed its way into her heart. She cuddled the small bundle in her arms tighter, taking in a few more deep breaths.

The woman's dark brown hair fell around her face in waves, and her blistered hands clutched desperately at her bundle. A loud shuffling catches her attention, and she shrinks back. She whips her head around, and pries a metal bar off the wall, using strength no normal person should have.

She pulls her bundle closer and holds the bar out in front of her, determined to protect her ball of blankets. The shuffling comes closer, and the faint sound of rustling feathers accompanies it. The woman's breathing becomes heavier, her pitch black eyes become wide with fear.

Then, the rustling stops. And standing before her is a man, a man with gigantic, white, feathered wings attached to his back. His sky blue eyes land on her and they soften, as if they were melting in her presence.

The woman lets her metal bar clatter to the ground and she lunges at the winged man, pulling his into a hug.

"We must go." He says in a lilting voice, caressing the bundle his love held in her arms.

She nods frantically and follows him out of the warehouse. Their steps are quiet, and their breathing shushed.

"This way." The woman nods towards and alley.

STOP!

The two of them run into the alley, just as the glow of fire passes where they were seconds ago. They slowly turn around and run, they run down the winding streets of the mortal city.

STOP!

The command comes again, yet they don't stop, not for a second. Footsteps echo behind they fleeing couple, after realizing how many pursuers they have, they force themselves to go faster.

The woman lets out a strangled yelp and falls face forward. Her company turns to her with wide eyes, and grabs her before she can fall with the bundle.

Her breathing is strangled and she winces.

She looks down and freezes.

blood.

A wooden stake had pierced her stomach.

The girls usually rosy face turns ghostly white. Her black eyes widen, and she gasps for breath.

The male angel sets her down, and gently pulls the stake out, cringing at the blood. His breathing is as hard and ragged as his injured friends, and his pale face turns white as snow.

"Its gonna be okay." He whispers to her, but partly to himself too.

She grunts and unlatches her fingers from the bundle, her black eyes slowly fading to grey.

"Take-- her." The guy grabs the bundle, in which coos at him.

The woman takes one last gasp for air, then her eyes fade completely.

"Amari?" He asks, milky white tears rolling down his face.

He looks up, pain etched into his face, and realizes that his pursuers had stopped. He grimaced, and stood, his wife's blood dripping down his arms and legs.

The shadows swirl around him and take the many forms of creatures from the underworld.

Devils.

They grin at him, with their sharp and crooked teeth, cocking their heads. They inch forward, retracting their sharp claws. Their black eyes pierce his skin as they wait for him to make a move.

Taking a deep breath, the new widow spreads his wings and takes flight. He flaps and flaps, then, stupidly, looks down.

A choked sob escapes his throat as he watches the shadow creatures pounce on their sisters body. When they move away, nothing but Amari's black blood is left.

He squeezes his eyes shut and changes his route, now flying East. He soars over tall buildings, and parked cars. He clutches the bundle tight as he dives towards one certain building.

He tucks his wings in tight and angles towards the balcony. He lands with a thump, and takes a deep breath. He looks over the side, to make sure he wasn't followed, then knocks on the door.

He waits as a bit of shuffling fills the building in which he waits to enter, then an owl appears in the window. When it sees him, it jumps off the sill and then the door unlocks, revealing a woman that looks to be in her late twenties.

"Took you long enough." She grumbles.

Looking up, her chocolate brown eyes widen when she sees the white tears falling down his face. She glances around the balcony and turns to her visitor, her eyes soft.

"So she managed to get herself killed again?" She murmurs, more to herself then to him.

The angel winces and more milky tears roll down his face.

"Sorry." She says, louder this time.

She opens the door wider and he follows her in. He steps onto a shaggy grey carpet and looks around, drying his tears.

The apartment gives off a homey vibe. The walls are a light golden brown, and the couch is dark brown. A wicker bowl sits on a small table in front of the couch, inside is a bunch of fake fruit. An apple cinnamon candle burn next to the bowl, and the sweet scent lingers throughout the whole room.

"Mommy?" Comes a small voice.

The man turns towards the source of the voice, and ends up staring at a tiny, four year old. Her ratty hair is in high pigtails, and she wears Minnie mouse pj's.

"Honey, this is Grayson." The angel's host says, bending down to look the small girl in the eyes.

"Gray?" She asks.

"Yep good enough." Her mom sighs heaving the small kid into her arms.

She plops the four year old onto the couch and turns back to Grayson. She steps forward and looks at the bundle. The angel hands the ball of blankets over to her. She folds back the blue blanket and stares into the face of a tiny baby.

BANG!

Grayson's blue eyes widen and he whips his head from the balcony door to the front door.

"I have to go!"

BANG!

He looks down at his daughters face then looks back up at his old friend.

"Thank you."

BANG!

The small kid on the couch looks around frantically.

"Mommy?"

BANG!

The angel leaps to the back door and slams it open, sending one last glance to the woman holding his child, then jumped off the balcony.

BANG!

The woman closes the door and sighs. She glances down at the baby in her arms then walks over to the couch, where she pulls her own daughter into her embrace.

Would just like to thank you for checking out this story. Also, all chapters with the word beginnings after the title will naturally be shorter than the actual chapters as they are more of prologues, or short stories full of information on the main characters. I recommend reading them.
