I walked out of my last class and turned on my phone and called Lidia.

Her phone rang over and over again until I she finally picked up

“Hey Mateo what's up?” Lidia asked while breathing her hard

“Are you okay? You sound out of breath” I question and stopped walking

“Oh yeah um...Penny wanted to play tag so I’m a little worn out so I’m just laying in bed” Lidia answered and I heard something moving in the background

“What was that?” I asked

“What was what?” Lidia asked me with her breathing calming down

“I heard something behind you” I told her

“Probably just the TV” Lidia chuckled

“You don’t have a TV in your room” I reminded her

“Oh right I met my phone” Lidia coughed

“Aren't you on your phone right now?” I questioned her again

“Yes...I meant um…” Lidia stuttered nervously

“Penny’s Tablet?” I asked

“Yes that...sorry mom brian” She joked

“It’s fine; I can take Penny for the day if your tired” I offered

“That actually would be great I’ll drop her off at your house if that's okay” Lidia suggested

“Yeah I’ll be there” I told her and started walking to the bus

I hurried upstairs to my room and unlocked the door to see that dad wasn’t home yet so I started cleaning up in the living room and kitchen.

I heard a knock and opened it and saw Penny eating a chocolate muffins and Lidia was holding her hand.

“Hey Mateo thanks I just have some stuff to do” Lidia thanked me and hugged me

While we were hugging I noticed a bruise on her neck and she moved away from me

Penny ran in and sat down on the couch while Lidia walked away, I closed the door behind me and Penny was reading one of the childrens books I had on my bookshelf.

“Hey Penny, be honest with me, Have you seen any boys at home?” I asked Penny scooting closer to her on the couch

“No” Penny answered while reading

“Has mommy talked about boys?” I asked her again

“No” Penny answered again

“Oh okay” I breathed out

“But sometimes when the candy man comes over he goes into mommy room to fix the bathroom” Penny told me while reading

“Candy man?” I asked worried

“Yeah, A nice man gives me a bag of chocolate and then he goes to mommy room and fix the bathroom in mommy’s room” Penny explained

“How do you know he fixed the bathroom?” I asked lending closer to her

“Because the shower goes on for a really long time and things started falling and it makes mommy cry” Penny explained

I must've looked shocked and horrified because he looked up at me confused.

“What's wrong?” Penny asked he confused

“Nothing Hey let’s go see Rufus” I asked her

“Yay!” Penny cheered and dropped the book and ran outside

I walked out and saw she already ran all the way downstairs

“Let’s go!” Penny told me jumping up and down excited

I followed grabbed her hand and they started walking to the bus to the bus as walked we passed by Kendrick's cupcake shop

Kendrick walked out out holding a bunch of treats, and closed the door behind him.

"Oh Hey Mateo" Kendrick smiled making me and Penny stop

"Cupcakes" Penny cheered

"Oh Hey kendrick I have to go talk to run to Rufus but I missed the bus" I said worried

"Oh Damien will be there in 4 minutes we can make a stop to see Rufus" Kendrick offered

"Oh that's great; thank you so much" I thanked him with a smile on my face

"Can I have a cupcake?" Penny asked sweetly

"Of course" Kendrick said and gave her the cupcake and Penny was eating away happily

Damien car pulled up and me and Penny got into the back of the car while Kendrick sat up front

"What the fuck?" Damien asked very shocked  to see me and Penny

"Just drive the the Starbucks on Mateo's campus" Kendrick growled

Damien rolled his eyes and started driving looking annoyed while driving away.
