I was about to start walking when I felt a hand on my shoulder, it was Vicky looking at me with a worried look.

"Are you sure (y/n)?"

"Yes, Vicky, the Joker is only human, no one is born that bad and I would like to know why he has become the way he is now." I told her with a confident look, she just nodded at me and I went in Mr. Davis' office.

"Well Anderson, first of all it's brave that you agree to the interview with the Joker, here are addresses of psychiatrists who have already had the Joker among their patients." My boss told me while handing me a two-page document,

"Wow, that's a lot! "

"The Asylum gave us an appointment for Tuesday next week at 10 am, so you have 6 days to prepare for it." he continued, I just nodded.

"Thanks sir, I won't let you down!" I told him as I made my way back. I already had my hand on the doorknob when my boss stopped me.

"Wait Ms Anderson!" I turned around and saw that he was digging something out of the drawers of his desk. "I'm sure you won't disappoint me. I also have press tickets here for you for a fundraiser gala at the Gotham Museum of Art, as this is an important event I thought I'd give those who volunteered for the Joker case, as a little thank you" Mr Davis smiled at me as he handed me two tickets across his desk.

"Ah, thank you Mr Davis, but that's two tickets!"

"Yes exactly, you can choose someone you want to take with you!" I smiled because I knew exactly who I would take with me. "The gala is on Saturday, it starts around 6 p.m. You can have fun, but please do the work too!"

"Yes sir, I think I already know who I'll take with me! Thank you"

I immediately ran back to my table and I saw Vicky writing an article on her computer. I snuck up from behind and held the tickets in front of her face.
"Guess who got press passes for the big gala on Saturday as a reward!"

"What!? You can not be serious! (y/n) you know how much I love going to events like this! There's always a lot to write about!" Vicky said with a grin as she turned to me!

"Yes, I know that's why we both go there, I'm not a big fan of such events, but it will definitely be fun with you!"

"Uhhh... that's going to be great, but first we're going to go buy you a dress!"

"What's wrong with the clothes I have at home?"

"(y/n) i love you but unfortunately your wardrobe doesn't offer much for such events!"

"Okay, maybe you're right, but you're paying for it!"

"I got it, see it as a thank you for the tickets!" Vicky hugged me, we laughed briefly and got back to work.

The rest of the week passed quietly, I helped some colleagues with research for their stuff and I was able to call some psychiatrists about the Joker, many advised me not to talk to him and not look at him but I didn't think much about it.

Friday 11:46 at night

I sat down that night at the same time as I do every night and waited for Batman, but he didn't show up. So I sat there with my legs pressed against my chest and waited, and waited and waited, I looked at the clock, midnight.
*sigh*
>Of course he won't come back! Do you think he would still be interested in you after you pushed yourself on him like that?< Maybe the selfdoubt in my head was right.
I thought I was special, just for once, I genuinely thought he might like me, but apparently he doesn't. A single tear rolled down my face and my heart felt heavy. I got up and made my way back to my apartment. Before I went to bed I peeked out of the window hoping to see him but there was nothing, just a little bat, so I got on the bed and fell asleep.
