Madelena owned a finite number of movies in English. There was a shelf of old tapes, and one labelled 'TOUCH AND DIE' in Maddie's sparkly pink gel pen.
Theo had to admit, there were some good and impressive muggle films.
Theo had watched casablanca, and rear window, and west side story. All in the span of two days. Theo unfortunately had to agree. A muggle television was an impressive feat of technology.
Currently Theo was enjoying the Princess Bride. Maddie was next to him on the couch. He had never been on a couch so soft, Theo kept feeling he was was on the brink of falling right through to the floor.
"Stop." He said.
"Stop what?" Said Maddie, eyes remaining on him.
"Watching me." He said, his arms folded over his chest as though truly put off. It was about two in the morning. Theo had not been able to sleep, and Maddie was awake waiting for her grandmother to come home.
"Why would I do that?" Asked Maddie, her feet tucked behind her on the couch as she continued to look at him. She gave him a blanket he refused it.
"Whenever something big is about to happen you look at me." Said Theo, Maddie scoffed. Twice. No, thrice. Theo glanced at her,
"No, no, no, you need to watch this part." Said Maddie insistently gesturing to the television. He glared before looking at the television again.
'As you wish!' called the main character, the masked man in black tumbling down the hill. Theo's eyebrows raised slightly and he sat up.
The masked man must be the farmboy. He looked at Maddie, she was grinning. Maddie was pretty in the pink and gold sort of way, her hair had gotten longer since the start of the year. She wore a big sweater and shorts to sleep with fuzzy socks. Her hair was so soft.
"It's him, and now she knows it's him, and oh, it's lovely, and it really would not be so toxic if it weren't for the monarchy." Said Maddie excitedly. She moved to lay down on the couch, ensuring she did not touch Theo, curling her legs and resting her head on the pillow by the armrest as she watched the movie.
Maddie looked at him again in the fireswamp, and again when the six finger man was revealed.
"Noceda." Said Theo, running his hand over his face.
"It's him." She said, gesturing to the screen, Theo rolled his eyes. He was deaf not blind.
"I can see that." He said. "You can sleep, Noceda."
"No, I want to watch the movie with you."
When Theo had informed Draco and Blaise with whom he would be spending his holiday they had been shocked. Mostly because Maddie had actually managed to ask him. Theo's acceptance of the invitation had not surprised either in the slightest.
Theo preferred her company to being alone. Which was really one of the highest compliments anyone could receive from the boy.
"Nott, Nott," He did not look, and then she nudged him with a pillow, "you need to watch this scene." She whispered. Theo scowled at her. "Well you don't like it when I look at you." She said shortly. Theo gave her a blanket. Spreading it over her quickly as though the action was embarrassing.
Theo shook his head.
Maddie made it through another hour of the movie before she fell asleep. Her eyes shut and her breathing steady. Theo moved a little to rest his head on the back of the couch, and he was about to remove his pin until he heard the snap of apparition.
