"Miss...?"
"Mrs Noceda." Said Penelope Noceda, extending her hand to shake, Gilderoy kissed her knuckles,
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs Noceda. Who should I make the book out to?" He asked, opening the cover.
"Make it out to my granddaughter, her name is Madelena and she was very excited to meet you." Penelope pushed Maddie out from behind her, she had gotten distracted by how blond Lucius Malfoy was. He must distract airplanes.
"Was she now?" Said Gilderoy, quill poised to sign her book, writing her name he spelt it wrong. But Penelope was too distracted by his dazzling smile. "Well I am delighted to meet you, Madelena."
"Abuela, you're confusing me for Carlos again." Said Maddie, flushing pink as Carlos was practically bouncing with excitement. She looked away and then asked very quickly, "Is it true you defeated three werewolves with a blindfold on?" Her eyes were wide with excitement.
"Si, and then the cracken?" Said Carlos, "I thought that was a myth."
"Of course I did. You can read about it here. In my book." Said Gilderoy, handing the book back to Maddie, Carlos took it and hugged it to his chest.
"You'll be teaching at Hogwarts?" Asked Maddie, "You know I'm a Ravenclaw too."
"I'll be at Hogwarts, dear, why don't you ask your lovely grandmother about it." Said Gilderoy as they were pushed aside by the bookstore managers.
"Goodbye," Called Carlos.
Penelope shot Gilderoy a smile and she was given another free book. She was a beautiful older woman, elegance personified with long sleek raven coloured hair with some traces of silver she wore with pride. Proof she had reached old age.
Maddie used to watch her do her hair and makeup, and Penelope would say, each strand of silver hair is proof I beat your abuelo at something.
Penelope stopped to talk to Augusta Longbottom at the front of the shop.
"I'll buy you each one book." Said Penelope, fixing the ribbon in Maddie's hair. "And Carlos-"
"I know, Abuela, no more lizards. And Iguana count as lizards." Said Carlos, rolling his eyes.
"Where's Neville?" Asked Maddie, turning to Augusta.
"Mi amada, stay still." Said Penelope, perfecting the pretty blue ribbon. "There."
"Neville is off with the Finnigan boy." Said Augusta idly. "Maybe try the second floor."
"Alright." Said Maddie, before her grandmother held her shoulder, "It's a pleasure to see you, Mrs Longbottom. You look wonderful." She lied, the woman wore a pheasant on her head. The fact that Penelope associated with her was a miracle. "I hope to see you later."
"Carlos?" Said Penelope.
"It's a pleasure to see you, Mrs Longbottom. As always. See you later." Said Carlos, both twins looked to their grandmother for approval.
"Go on." Said Penelope, turning to Augusta as she let them go. "I'm instilling manners." She said in explanation. "How is Neville doing?"
"I wish as wonderfully as Maddie says I look." Said Augusta, moving her heinous purse from one hand to the other, Penelope laughed.
Maddie hurried up the stairs after her brother. He was already in the dragon section. There were piles of books and a balcony overlooking the base level of the shop. Draco was there.
"Hi Malfoy." Said Maddie politely. He made no effort to respond, his eyes locked on the door like a bird of prey. "I'll see you at school." She moved passed him, at this his head turned. His eyes looked passed her for a moment and then he smirked.
