"Potter." Theo said, addressing the chosen one where he stood outside of Maddie's History of Magic Class,
"Nott. Surprised to see you."
Theo said nothing,
"I mean you've been gone so long and all," Harry said, hands on his pockets and a smug smirk on his face. Theo thought of hitting him. "What are you doing here?"
"I attend this school."
"No. I mean, what are you doing here. Right now."
"Standing." Theo said, he glanced at the time praying Maddie would be released from her class soon. It had been far too long. Theo's heart raced in anticipation.
Blaise was cross with him. Maddie must be as well. But there was nothing he could not fix. She still wore his ring.
"Are you here to get Maddie?" Potter finally asked, Theo nodded, "it's not really a two man job, Nott, you can go back to whatever hole you've been hiding in-"
Theo's face hardened and his eyes narrowed on Potter.
"I suggest you leave, Potter,"
The bell rang,
Harry inhaled, "can't do that. Not without the girl,"
"My girl." Theo said it on instinct,
"You think you can possess women, Nott? That is so not hot." Harry said, students filed out of the classroom,
Theo jinxed Harry silent, Potter struggled under the jinx, hunting the crowd for Maddie. Waving an arm up at any brunette leaving the class.
Maddie chose peace.
She turned in the door, walking quickly through the classroom,
"Did you forget something?" Asked Professor Binns,
"No, professor, I just want some fresh air," she said, opening a window, "you don't mind do you? The halls are a bit crowded. I need a moment."
The ghost muttered something about catching a cold, Maddie resisted the urge to remind him that he was already dead. And if he had not been before his last lecture would have surely earned him a place in hell for the sin of boring others to tears. Satan should be here to collect him any minute.
Perhaps that's why Theo was here.
Theo would have enjoyed the comparison to Lucifer. Maybe he would have signed something about how glad he was she found him beautiful.
Her heart was pounding. Her face starting to flush. She didn't want to see him. She didn't want to deal with him. Or with Potter. Or with anyone who might witness her crumble into a Slytherin's arms. A death eater's arms directly in front of the saviour of the wizarding world.
Maddie opened the window. Granger was asking some inane questions. It was a brilliant question, but Maddie was irritable and needed to escape.
She drew a chair to the window.
The History of Magic classroom was in a tower. A tall one.
Maddie looked down.
She was not scared of heights. Her heart sank like a stone. Not because of the height. She glanced at the door. Theo was getting agitated.
Maddie was a witch. She could surely magic her way out of this. She could see Ravenclaw tower from here. She climbed up on the chair to get a clearer view on what she was working with on either side of the wall,
Stones.
Shocking.
A ledge? Yes. A ledge. Broad enough to crawl and sit on. Maddie shut her book bag so nothing would slip out and carefully stepped out onto the ledge.
