"Happy birthday Y/N you've grown into a beautiful young lady!"
My father patted me on the back before walking into the kitchen. "Thanks, dad."
He smiled at me and turned towards the sink. "You know. I can come to one of the meetings with you if you'd like?"
He turned to face me. That was the last thing I wanted my father to do. "No dad it's okay. I've been going with Jamie it helps to have him there."
My dad sighed. "Well alright. As long as your still going."
"Yeah, dad I am. You're the one who thought it would be best if I did so I'm going to do it for you."
His smile turned into a frown. "I don't need another one of our family members in the grave because of alcohol, do what's best Y/N."
He turned and walked towards the door. Huffing he looked back at me. "It'll be alright."
Before leaving and closing the door behind him.
Yeah, it'll be alright my ass.
I walked up to my bedroom and sat down on the end of my bed. Looking at myself in the reflection of the mirror.
I twisted the necklace's charm that hung around my neck. "Fucking William," I whispered to myself.
"Hey, hon. You alright in here?" I heard Jamie's voice as he opened the door and let himself in. Jamie was decently tall. With shaggy brown hair and green eyes. He was gentle, reminded you of a golden retriever.
We've been together for about 2 years. It's been a painful road. Especially with that spoiled brat of a kid. Sophie. He never tells that little shit no.
"Yeah, I'm alright." Jamie sat down beside me placing a kiss on my cheek and holding my hand.
"Your gonna get through this. It's just a little rough patch is all." he smiled at me. Man, I wanted to punch his face in.
"Okay well, I need to pick up Sophie I'll be back later."
Right. That annoying ass kid
"Okay see you later I'm just gonna take a nap." Jamie sighed and walked out of the bedroom closing the door behind him.
I heard him leave the house and I immediately sat up. I lifted my mattress and shoved my arm in between the mattress and box spring. Rummaging around. "There you are!"
I pulled the flask from in between the mattress and twisted the cap off. Sticking my nose to the top of it and took a big whiff of it. "Fuck ya!"
I put the top of it to my lips. Feeling the burn of the whiskey on my crackled lips I tilted my head back feeling it roll down my throat.
I sat down on the floor looking at myself in the mirror. I watched as my eyebrows turned downwards. "This is who you are now." I laughed.
I stood up and walked to my closet grabbing a t-shirt and pants.
I walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. The house was quiet. Always so very quiet. I walked to my shoes putting them on and walked out the door.

"Oh my God, Y/N happy birthday!"
Fuck not this cheerful bitch again.
"Hey, Chrissy thank you." I smiled awkwardly at her. We still work together but for some reason every time she sees me she acts like it's been years.
"I have a great idea..." she smiled grabbing my shoulders. "Oh, what is that..." I tried to back away from her but she grabbed my arms and pulled me to her.
"Let's go to a bar tonight!"
Nobody knew about my issues except for my dad and Jamie of course. "I'd love to do that. When and where?" I smiled.
At least if I have to socialize with her I'll be fucking drunk. "I'll pick you up at 10:30, and it's a surprise."
Fuck I hate surprises. Especially Chrissy's
Last year she had a 'surprise' for me and I ended up in the ER with a broken wrist.
--
I sat at my kitchen table looking out the window waiting for Chrissy to show up. Jamie was putting Sophie to bed upstairs when I heard his voice call out my name.
I approached the spare bedroom when I walked in I could see Jamie staring out the bedroom window.
"Yeah, what's wrong?" I asked already tired of whatever bullshit he was gonna say. "I just saw some guy standing outside the bedroom window looking in at Sophie. I don't think you should leave I think we should call the police."
I scoffed. "I'm not in the mood for this bullshit Jamie. If there's someone out there call the cops. I'm still leaving. Chrissy and I have plans to hang out at her house. I'm going regardless."
Jamie pinched the bridge of his nose sighing at me. "I know you're going to the bar Y/N I'm not stupid. I've smelt whiskey on your breath for the past week. You haven't been going to your meetings."
He reached his hands out to me. "Don't fucking touch me, Jamie. When I come back tomorrow I want you out of my house. I'm done being controlled by everyone in my life."
I stormed out of the bedroom grabbed my purse and walked out the door.
The fucking nerve.
I grabbed the pack of cigarettes out of my purse sliding one into my lips and lighting it. I angrily walked in the darkness down the street feeling the warm summer air tickle my legs. Briefly saw the street lights flicker.
No cars driving by. Just silence. As I passed the houses glancing into the windows seeing how people's lives are. Everyone seemed to have it all figured out. Except for me.
What am I doing wrong?
I heard footsteps approaching behind me. I jumped turning around gripping my purse. Nobody was there.
You're almost at Chrissy's house Y/N don't panic.
Then as I walked faster I heard the footsteps approaching again.
Sounded like fancy shoes. Definitely a male shoe by the way the heel tapped the pavement behind me. As each shoe clicked near I felt sweat form on my forehead.
I spun around, no one was there. I grabbed the knife I had in my purse and clutched it tightly in my hand.
I turned back around now approaching Chrissy's house I walked faster. I heard the footsteps again but this time they were almost running at me. I stopped in my tracks and turned around.
"Whoever the fuck you are I have a knife and I will fucking cut you. You hear me?"
Nobody was there. "I'm going fucking crazy..." I whispered to myself.
I heard Chrissy leave the house I spun around and yelled for her. "Chrissy hey girl I'm here!"
She is jumped looking up at me, holding her chest with one hand she laughed. "Oh my lord Y/N you scared the shit out of me, what are you even doing here. Whatever that's fine it saves me a trip. Who's that guy your with?"
I felt my stomach drop. Gripping the knife tightly in my hand. I slowly turned around and that's when I saw him.
"William?" tears began to form in my eyes my face beating red. My heart exceeded.
I felt my voice crack as he looked down at me and smiled. "I've missed you love..." he grinned.
