Let's just say my mental health has been bad lately. I've been trying to write more and it's helped me with it.
For the 2-4 people who commented, hi guys! Love you! <3
Anyways, this is Virgil's POV.
Italic means thinking.

Oh no... oh no. I've done it now... wait, my shadow? I got my shadow NOW?! They saw that, they see it!

Virgil's knuckles were a bit bloody and bruised as he stared in disbelief at what he had just done. Thoughts had started swirling in his head when he now noticed his shadow was different for the first time since he'd walked into the bathroom.

Virgil walked into the bathroom after doing his homework and drawing a bit. He took his shirt off and washed his face as he stared at himself in the mirror, not noticing the hefty shadow above him. He was too lost in his own eyes, the eyes he hated. Virgil always hated himself to a certain degree. He had improved his self-esteem since he moved with his dad and mom, but it used to be bad. He didn't like how dark his eyes were, how skinny he was, how pale his skin was, how he had freckles underneath his foundation, his floppy hair.

He started tearing up. Virgil didn't want to hate himself, he wanted to love his body, he wanted to be normal, he wanted to feel like he had confidence like his new friends. Virgil clenched the sink edge until his knuckles turned white and the tears were now flowing down his face.

Then he couldn't control himself. He felt the amount of force and anger he built up run to his fist. Then he heard a crack. And another. Then a shatter. Only then did he look at his hand and... the mirror.

Virgil was panicking a bit as he reached for the medical tape and started wrapping his knuckles. He saw something red out of the corner of his eye and turned to the mirror, seeing the shadow tracing something in red ink.

"Are you ok? What happened? Who are you?"

He stared at the messages, worried and surprised. He ran and got a black marker and started writing.

"1. Probably. 2. I punched the mirror obliviously. 3. Just call me Vi."

He felt satisfied with himself as he continued wrapping his hand and watching the shadow look at his message and kinda hop around. Virgil assumed he was excited as he saw a scribbled message.

"Hello, Vi! Nice to meet you! You can call me Tal, it's part of my last name. Is your hand ok, I'm assuming you broke the mirror with your hand?"

Tal... ok then. That's a start.

He finished wrapping up his hand and slips his shirt back on, putting his attention to the mirror again, seeing more words appearing magically. As a few more minutes went by, he heard a knock on the door and said goodbye to 'Tal', walking to the door and opening it to his worried parents. His mother immediately hugged Virgil as his father inspected the mirror.

Mom- "Virgil, we heard a loud noise, are you ok!?"

Vi- "Yes Mom, I was angry and didn't think before I acted... I'm sorry."

Dad- "Wow, I'm impressed, Vi. That's a big impact, your training you told me about has been working!"

Virgil laughed, "Thanks dad, I can help you fix everything since it was my fault..."

Dad- "That would be nice, Virgil. We can get measurements tomorrow and a replacement as well."

Mom- "How is your hand, is it bad?"

His mom held his injured hand in hers, seeing the blood seeping through the bandage a bit. Virgil winced when she held it.

Vi- "Mom, I cleaned it and got any glass out of it before I bandaged it, it should heal in a few days."

When everything was sorted for the night, Virgil's parents helped him with a few tasks he had trouble with now with his hand. He got to bed and said good night to his parents, slowly drifting into a calm sleep.

Virgil was eating some toast in the kitchen as his mom rebandaged his hand and he talked with his dad about fixing the mirror. Soon after, he packed his bag, put on his headphones, waved goodbye to his parents, and walked over to Patton's house next door.

Patton was his ride to school now since he hated the bus and he got to know Patton. Patton also insisted he gives him a ride so he couldn't very well refuse such a nice, bubbly guy. Virgil saw Patton waving from his white car and opening the door for him, smiling as usual as he sat down in the car.

Vi- "Hey Pat, sorry if you were waiting."

Pat- "No no, it's fine kiddo! It's no trou- good golly! What happened to your hand!?"

Vi- "O-Oh... I accidentally punched my m-mirror..."

Pat- "My golly, are you gonna be ok? Can you write? Draw?"

Vi- "Yes Pat, it's my non-dominant hand, I'll be fine."

Pat- "Ok... I'll be sure to check on you, kiddo. If you need anything, just come over or call me, ok?"

Virgil nodded and off they went to school. As the two got out, they saw most of the group in their usual spot outside. Logan and Janus were sitting with 2 people Virgil didn't recognize... but Patton sure did.

Patton led Virgil over and hugged one of the new people. He looked a lot like Patton but with a pink shirt, tan sweater, and nice jeans. The other had on leather pants and a jacket, a white shirt, and shades, sipping coffee in one hand and his other around the pink guy's shoulder, holding his hand. The one in leather noticed Virgil.

Rem- "So that's the new kid?"

Jan- "Yes. Virgil, this is Remy and that's Emile. They are upperclassmen here and our friends."

Vi- "Hello both of you."

Em- "Hi bud!"

Rem- "Sup!"

Virgil sat down, getting to know Remy and Emile before classes started. About 7 minutes later, Virgil heard 2 people faintly arguing and turned around, seeing Roman and Remus in another petty argument. As the twins sat down, Roman noticed Virgil's hand.

Ro- "Dear Zeus, whatever did you do to your hand, Stormy?"

Everyone now noticed the makeshift cast Virgil had on.

Vi- "U-Um... I accidentally punched my mirror...."

Roman immediately got tense and the group started talking about it, asking Virgil questions. Patton then pulled out a marker and got an idea.

Pat- "Hey, Virge, what if we signed your cast?"

Vi- "Oh... sure, I don't mind!"

Patton signed his cast and passed the marker around, each person signing the cast until it was covered in their names in creative fonts and pictures. Virgil smiled as he looked at his cast, he was glad he met everyone in the group, they were kind to him even before knowing him.

As the first classes started, he talked with Roman and Patton when he saw them in his first 2 classes. When his 3rd period rolled around, he sat down. He was thinking about his soulmate, their first conversation. 'Tal', that wasn't much to go off of.

Maybe it's someone I know... nah. No one I know is named Tal. The only person who I can think of that is related to that name is... WAIT.

Virgil looked on his cast for Roman's name. As he examined it, images of his soulmate's messages flashed through his head.

Tal... Tal... Talon. Roman Talon.

Virgil placed his head in his hands, sighing.

Oh boy...

Oh my god, Virgil has good parental figures? No way! Anyways, sorry about the gap in the release dates on the chapters. Remember to hydrate and love y'all! <3
