I WAS SITTING in my dorm watching the news, I smiled watching Ben and Mal dine with Aladdin and Jasmin on my screen. I was hoping that Mal was settling into her new life well, I knew it would be hard.
The door opened and in came Lonnie and Jay laughing up a storm, "No Jay you were way better, I was surprised you were able to dodge that well."
"Don't get ahead of yourself..." Jay trailed off seeing me on my bed doing homework. I looked up at them awkwardly.
You see, after the coronation me and Jay agreed that we equally weren't ready to be in a relationship plus the fact that I was letting Jay explore his options first. I was trying not to be jealous since it was a mutual decision but the jealousy bubbling up inside of me made me want to reverse that decision hella quick.
"Oh- I was just studying, I'll leave you two alone." I raise a brow at Lonnie before taking my leave to go find the only people who would understand an sympathize with my issue.

"Well have you tried to talk to Jay about this?" Evie asks as I sit on Mal's bed pouting.
Mal wasn't even paying attention because her nose was in her spell book and on top of that she seemed disoriented so I didn't want to bother her.
"No, I told him that we could see if we really wanted this before jumping in. I'm giving him a chance to mingle, and I don't want to look like that jealous person." I say and Evie sits on the bed next to me grabbing my hands.
"Look, I've known Jay my whole life, and if there's one thing I know it's that he's horrible with feelings. Though I do know you both like each other a lot, and I'm saying you guys are both great looking people." She says making me laugh happily.
I looked down sadly again and Evie's hand was on my chin making me look up, "No, no, listen, you are going to barge into that room and you are going to be brave and ask Jay to cotillion-"
"What?" I cry out standing up and letting go of Evie's hands instantly.
"Don't 'What?' me. If you don't ask him now you will be sorry later." Evie says looking at me.
Evie's attention is pulled away from me by Mal diving deep into her spell book, "I know Mal's secret to fitting in, and Ben wouldn't like it one bit. Haven't you guys had enough secrets between the two of you already?" Evie looks at Mal disappointed.
"Evie, you remember what I was like before I started using my spell book. I mean, I was a complete disaster." Mal looks between me and Evie.
Even though I knew it was wrong I believed that Mal was honestly going through a rough patch. Being the girlfriend of the king meant you were always in press, always watched, always followed, you had to be everywhere all at once, and juggling trying to fit in on top of everything else was not helping. Plus if I knew my best friend, I knew Ben was not making it any easier on her than the people in the media.
"Evie let her be, she's juggling a lot. Mal, Evie is right, once you finish being overwhelmed you have to put the spell book in the museum." I say to Mal getting my bag up so I could leave.
I walked to my locker opening it to see polaroids of me and Jay at the coronation after party. One of us hugging and one of us dancing together. I smiled as I ran my fingers along the photo.
"Hey." A voice behind me snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, uh Ben!" I say closing my locker and turning to him.
"Are you alright?" He asked me.
"Yeah, just this taking things slow thing with Jay is really making me wish I could tell him how much I really like him. What about you?" I say and Ben looks down sadly.
"Yeah, uh me and Mal, got into a huge fight." He said and I instantly knew from earlier today, Ben and Mal were arguing about her trying to fit in.
"I know what it's about." I say and he looks at me angrily.
"You knew and you didn't think to tell me? You are my best friend you should tell me everything!" He says and I raise a brow.
"Mal was trying to please you! Plus how is this any of my business?" I say back.
"Because my girlfriend was lying to me and you're were letting her!"
"Ben being the best friend of the king is a hassle so imagine how much strain being the 'perfect' girlfriend of the king is!" I say loudly.
Ben looks down knowing I was right and I turn around, "I'm going to my bed room, if you need me that's where I'll be." I walk to my room
