Ruby's POV

Well this was unexpected, I thought to myself as I watched Frank teach me the correct rhythm guitar to Headfirst For Halos. A trip to the music shop had turned into a guitar lesson with my idol.

He began showing me the chords I would need to learn for the song then stopped suddenly. "You know, it might help if you look at the chords I'm playing instead of at me," he chuckled. It was then that I realized I'd been staring at him for maybe a couple of minutes solid.

I felt myself blush red and raised an eyebrow. He laughed before continuing to teach me the song.

We talked about the song for perhaps half an hour before I noticed the growing sunset shining in through the window. It was going to be dark soon and if I wanted to avoid one of Mom's lectures about staying safe: I needed to head home. And yet, it almost felt worth being yelled at for just a while longer with Frank.

Then I had a thought.

"Frank...," I asked switching on the puppy dog eyes. He nodded like he knew what i was about to say. "I've really enjoyed this evening and i was wondering if we could do this more often, you know, like guitar lessons?" I said finishing my sentence.

Frank stood slowly, took the guitar from me and placed it back on the stand. He sighed and stared at me with a clenched jaw and a raised eyebrow. Was he going to say no? I was such an idiot for asking; why would he want to spend time with me? It was just as i began to feel a lump grow in my throat that I noticed his growing smile. "Don't look so worried Ruby!" he smirked, amusement thick in his voice. "I'd love to teach you!" he said punching my arm jokingly.

We agreed that we would meet every Friday at the shop and practise songs and guitar technique. I was asking him what sort of time we would meet when he handed me a folded piece of paper. Feeling more than a bit confused, I unfolded the note to see a phone number scrawled in biro in the center of the paper. "Just in case you need to cancel or need some help..." he said fiddling with his hands. Smooth Iero, real smooth.

I knew it was time to leave but I wanted to savour the moment; I studied Franks features: his short, dark hair, piercing eyes and perfect smile. I could tell he was studying me in the same way. Time slowed down for a few seconds and I smiled at him solemnly and replied with a nod. At that, I turned and left the shop with a spring in my step as I walked home.

Frank's POV

Reluctantly, she turned away and left the shop. Suddenly, everything felt very quiet without Ruby's presence and I felt unsure of what to do with myself so I stayed sat down for a few minutes; I barely knew anything about her except she had impeccable music taste, was really good at guitar and was extremely beautiful.

With a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach, I walked home thinking about her long natural, brown hair, green eyes and cautious smile; a combination of features that suited her perfectly. Even though we had just said 'goodbye' to each other, I was already missing her. When we were sitting in the quiet of the guitar shop, just me and her, it felt like we were on a different planet miles away from the tedious working of the Earth. That was when I realized: I had feelings for Ruby. A spectrum of strong, uncontrollable feelings. Shit.

My aim was to get back to the flat after the rest of the band had gone to bed so I purposely slowed my walking pace despite the growing darkness of the sky. Maybe I should have asked her to come back with me but, from the impression I got of her Mum, she probably wouldn't have been allowed.

The moonlight now illuminated my path as I strolled up to the door, hoping someone would be awake to buzz me in. Thankfully, someone was and I nudged the entrance open with my shoulder. A sudden wave of exhaustion washed over me as I pulled out my keys unlocked the flat and walked in.

Trying my best to be quiet, I walked in checking my phone - ONE NEW MESSAGE : UNKNOWN NUMBER - the screen read. I opened the text, squinting at the brightness of the screen. "See you next Friday! xoruby". I smiled reading again and again, saved her number to my phone and put it on charge. Yawning, I trudged up to bed.
