Ch 9 : Great Friends

Recap :

" Hey.. Man.. I mean Wai.. I di- didn't mean it like that. You know.. I- I was just joking.", Korn stuttered out.

"No it's alright. Go ahead and punch me. As always". Honestly that line really made Korn nauseous.

" Knock it off Wai. Go change and join the guys." Korn said.

Once again the unvoiced apology got buried.

Korn left to pee because the urge is coming back again.

Wai stood there with a defeated look.

How could he loose control in front of Korn!! For fucks sake!!!!!

"I really need to control my damn mouth" , Wai thought.

Author's POV :

Wai can't really focus today on studying for his afternoon session. He decided that going to the bar might help. He went there early.

The bar owner, P'Sam adores him. He welcomed him and asked what happened?

"Are you upset, nong?", P'Sam asked genuinely concerned for Wai.

Wai shook his head to a No. Then he paused for a bit before saying "A little, I guess working here would make me happy. Why Phii!! Can't I come here whenever I want?", Wai pouted a little. P'Sam laughed a little, ruffling his hair. They fell into a fit of laughter.

Wai helped open the bar and sat on the bar counter. There was time till his shift.

P'Sam told him to sit and relax. But, Wai insisted on doing something. He helped restock the bar counter from the storeroom. They talked and laughed when needed. He and his co-worker, P'Tul rinsed and wiped the glasses again. They swept the floor and wiped the table. Talking and laughing.

Customers started coming by the evening. Today you can guess by the rush that it will be crowded tonight.

Pat and his friends came over a little late. The bar was almost crowded. Wai greeted them all. Except for Korn.

No. He won't talk to him if the uneasy twist of his stomach was any indication.

Wai took their order as how is he here so early. Teasing each other, mocking each other along the way.

The group is very comfortable with each other. Only If you cut off the tension between the two hotheads of the group.

Wai took their order and a few minutes later he brought their orders. He handed everyone their drink. Except for Korn.

Wai put the pint in front of Korn with a thud.

Korn was startled. He was half expecting that he would get the same treatment his friends got. But well, you know what? Fuck expectations.

"Eyyy Wai, can't you drink with us??", Chang has asked. Wai sighed with a serious look but smiling.

Wai shook his head, "I have this shift today. Maybe later guys."

"Owhh... But, you are one of the MVPs of today's match. Come on!! one pint wouldn't hurt. It's on me", Pat offered.

Wai rolled his eyes at him lightly smacking Pat's shoulder, "You can treat me tomorrow, Brother-in-law. The offer should valid forever. Because you are dating my best friend". Wai smirked as the others started snickering along. Others including Korn. Maybe that was a reason for Wai to retort from their table saying, "enjoy your drinks."
