Location: Wall Rose
-4:01 PM-The trip back to Yarckel was much easier than when you traveled to it. With Blue's reins in hand, your feet in the stirrups, and a better understanding of how to control her, you were relaxed and enjoying the environment around you. The bags with the clothes you got were in the satchels on the sides of the saddle, and you glanced down at them every few minutes, concerned that they magically opened and you lost what was inside them. You already felt terrible that Erwin gave the amount of money he did to Hange to spend on you. If the clothes for you that his money went towards fell out without you noticing, you wouldn't forgive yourself.
It also reminded you that you owed a huge thank you to Erwin and the others for giving Hange money for your clothes. It didn't matter that they kept telling you that you didn't need to do anything to earn the money they spent on you; you wanted to help out around HQ. Their lives were challenging enough, and if you could help ease some of their troubles, then you wanted to. It would be a hundred times better than sitting around headquarters with nothing else to do but come up with ways to save people. But that also wasn't to say it would be fun. After all, fun didn't seem like something easy to achieve in this universe. Going shopping with Hange and Nifa like you did today was fun, but it was certainly not an everyday occasion.
Nifa and Hange rode in front of you on their horses, and you stared at the backs of their heads. You wanted to spend more time with both of them whenever you got the chance. You had a lot of fun with them today, even if Hange pried into your crushes on Erwin, Mike, and Levi. You were scared about what they would do with that information, and you hoped they wouldn't tell the men about it. One thing you did know was that you needed to learn to think before you spoke because it seemed you forgot how to do that once you got to this universe.
Blue galloped over a grassy hill, revealing HQ in the distance. It stood out in the rolling fields of Wall Rose—a stone castle in the middle of lush green grass. Thinking about it now, it was pretty cool that you got to live in a castle, even if it was dorm-style living. At least there weren't any fire alarms or freshmen there to trigger them as a prank. You hated many things about living in a dorm during your first year of college, so hopefully, this experience would be nowhere near as bad. It might even have the potential of being enjoyable as long as the Scouts weren't as annoying as college freshmen, which you already could guess that most of them weren't. This was the military, after all. It was a completely different environment from being on a university campus. Discipline was required.
As you, Hange, and Nifa approached headquarters, you pulled on Blue's reins and signaled her to slow down. Some Scouts rode their horses in the distance, and a couple of teams were sparring in the fields. The Scouts wasted no time resuming training after a mission, but it made sense. They never knew when something like what happened in Shiganshina could happen again. Titans threatened their everyday lives, and the more training they partook in, the better. But you hoped they got breaks here and there. While consistent training was good, doing it every single day could lead to a higher chance of getting injured. Overtraining was possible, and it was the last thing anyone in the military should want to happen.
Glancing up at the sky, you noted the sun's position. From your estimates, it had to be around four in the afternoon, meaning you still had some free time before dinner and then training with Mike and Levi, which was bound to be interesting. You might've had a few years of past martial arts experience from when you were younger, but they trained every day and had been for years. These were Humanity's Strongest and Second Strongest you were talking about here. They were going to bust your ass with whatever they had planned for you, and you needed to be prepared for that. They didn't seem like the type of men that would allow you to slack off, but you didn't plan to. After all, you were the one who asked for the training, and you didn't intend on wasting their time.
