Location: Wall Rose
-4:01 PM-Blue raced across the grassy field, following after Hange and Nifa, who led the way back to HQ. You had a lot of fun with them today and couldn't wait to spend more time with them. You could use some friends in this universe.
As you, Hange, and Nifa approached headquarters, you pulled on Blue's reins and signaled her to slow down. Some Scouts rode their horses in the distance, and a couple of teams sparred in the fields. The Scouts wasted no time resuming training after a mission. They never knew when something like what happened in Shiganshina could happen again. Titans threatened their everyday lives, and the more training they partook in, the better.
You looked at the position of the sun in the sky, estimating it was somewhere around four in the afternoon. You should have some time to relax until dinner, unless whatever Erwin wanted to talk to you about took time.
Blue trotted across the grass and followed Hange and Nifa over to the stables. You pulled her reins and brought her to a stop, slipping your feet out of the stirrups and swinging your right leg over her body. You slid off the saddle and landed on the ground, lifting your legs one by one and stretching them after your two hour journey on horseback.
"I'm surprised how well you controlled Blue. You're a natural," Nifa told you.
"I think Blue understood how nervous I was," you laughed and stroked the mane of the horse, "it was a lot of fun, though. I'm glad I got to go shopping with you and Hange."
"Me too! I would love to hang out again."
"I would love that as well!"
Nifa smiled at your response before guiding her horse into the stables. Forming a friendship with Nifa wasn't what you had expected earlier today, but it was a welcomed surprise. She was a genuine woman—smart, kind, and fun to be around. You were happy that things kicked off well between you and her.
"You're going to fit in just fine around here," Hange said, pulling you from your thoughts.
"Yeah?" You raised an eyebrow and sheepishly smiled. "Thanks again, Hange. I had fun spending the afternoon with you."
"Well, we'll be spending a lot more time together from now on!" Hange slung an arm around your neck. "You're stuck with me!"
A laughed and nodded, happily accepting Hange's company. They were easy to get along with and welcomed you in with open arms. You would always appreciate them for that.
You and Hange guided the horses into the stables and led them into their stalls. Blue stayed still for you as you retrieved your items from the satchel on her saddle, and she snorted once you were done. You stepped out of her stall, and she leaned her head out for a pet. You adjusted your bags to one arm and used your free hand to stroke the top of her head. Blue's eyes closed in content, and your heart dropped when you realized you might not get to ride her again. It could've been beginner's luck, but you found her easy to work with.
"Blue seems to haven taken a liking to you," Hange stated, joining your side.
"The feeling's mutual then," you chuckled and scratched behind Blue's ears before turning to Hange, "she's a good horse. Whoever gets her will be very lucky."
Hange thoughtfully hummed, but you didn't give it much thought. You stepped back from Blue and nodded to Hange.
"I'll see you at dinner, Hange. I need to see Erwin," you said, placing a hand on their upper back, "and seriously, thank you for taking me shopping. I still intend to help out around here, though."
Hange laughed and draped an arm around your shoulders. "You are one stubborn woman! I respect it."
You patted their back then walked out of the stables with them. One of the dirt paths led to the main doors of HQ, and Hange pulled one open once you reached it. You slipped out from under their arm and stepped inside, heading toward the staircase while they disappeared down the hall to the right.
