Besides the occasional scribbling of your pen, the lab was quiet for once. Hange, Nifa, and Moblit had left early this morning to get materials for the Titan capturing equipment Hange was working on. The peaceful environment allowed you to focus on your flash grenade design without any distractions.

You set down your pencil and took a tiny bit of the magnesium-infused oxidizer you had created, setting it in front of you on the table. You grabbed some flint and steel and held it over the explosive composition. You struck the flint against the steel a few times until it sparked and ignited the powdery substance, causing a small white flash of light.

"Yes!" You shot out of your seat and clasped your hands together. It fucking worked!

You needed far more of the substance to create a light bright enough to blind a Titan, but the amount you intended to put in the body of the grenade should work. You set the flint and steel down on the table and rubbed your hands together, excitement bubbling inside you. God, you couldn't remember the last time you felt this happy. You almost forgot you had a mental panic attack last night.

"We're baaaaack!" Hange announced, kicking open the door and barging into the lab with Nifa and Moblit.

"Did you get everything you needed?" you asked, retaking your seat on the stool.

"We did! And we received our monthly supplies from the government, so there'll be more to use in the lab."

You brought a hand to your chin. The monthly supplies contained ingredients and food, and you doubted the Scouts used all their supplies by the end of the month. Perhaps you could use the leftovers to bake something for Erwin, Levi, and Mike as a thank you for helping you last night? You also just missed baking. It used to be a way for you to relieve stress, and your family and friends always joked that you should open up a bakery or restaurant. You had always been the designated cook at any event, having even done commissioned work before for a few people.

"Hange, are there ever ingredients left over from the month prior?" you asked.

"Yeah, we always have leftovers. Why?"

"Could I use them? I had a rough night last night, and Erwin, Levi, and Mike helped me out, so I wanted to make them something as a thank you."

Hange smiled. "Absolutely! That's so sweet of you, but are you okay? What happened last night?"

Nifa and Moblit looked over in concern when they heard Hange. You opened up to the three of them about what had happened last night and everything you were struggling with. The smile on Hange's face disappeared, and they reached across the lab table and grabbed one of your hands.

"I'm glad Commander Erwin, Captain Levi, and Squad Leader Mike were there for you last night," Nifa breathed out. "If you ever need anything, even if it's just to talk, we're all here as well."

"I'm sure Levi's Squad, Nanaba, and Gelgar are, too," Moblit added. "I know you're also close with them. Have you told them?"

"I'm going to tonight. Bottling up my feelings only made things worse, and I'm realizing that I have people who care about me and want what's best for me," you explained.

Hange squeezed your hand. "Damn right, we do."

You thanked them, and Nifa wrapped an arm around you and brought you into a side-hug, while Moblit patted shoulder. You truly had some great friends.

"I'm glad to have people like you in my life," you whispered then nodded to your work. "I'm gonna work on this a bit more and then head to the kitchen."
