Monday morning I was sitting in the office eating my breakfast before starting the day, when Carmen walked in. She smiled brightly at me as she hung her coat.
"Sooooo... did we hear from Mr. Malcolm?" she asked.
"We text over the weekend," I sat back as I picked up my iced coffee. "All weekend. I am taking this so, super slow."
"You should," she nodded as she sat at her desk. "What about your stalker? Did he pop up when I went home last night?"
I shook my head. "No. Thankfully, I haven't heard from him. I'm hoping it stays that way. Hopefully he is back in Canada."
"Hopefully," she nodded. "Oh... our new favorite just pulled into the parking lot." She smiled at me.
"Who is our new favorite?"
She nodded towards the door. I turned and saw Melissa walk into Lexicon of Style along with Ricky. He was on the phone and she was sipping on a Frappucino. They walked to the front reception area.
"We should have them come in here. I'm dying to hear what happened this weekend," Carmen picked up the phone. "Did she knock Nyla out again? And if so, she needs to not do that unless we are around." She dialed the front desk. "Hey, Rachel, the two people that walked in? Yeah, you can send them in here. Thanks," she hung up. "They're coming. I am dying to hear the tea from the weekend."
"You are so nosy," I shook my head.
"We're all nosy. I'm just more open about it."
Melissa and Ricky walked into the office.
"Hey, girl!" Carmen perked up.
"Hey," Mel smiled. "Is Lexie here yet?"
"No, but she will be in about ten minutes," I replied.
"Did you have a good weekend?" Carmen asked.
"I did," Mel sat down on the couch. "I saw Jenn dance and... I was impressed. Have you ever seen her? It was a little weird initially because she's wearing a bustier and little underwear with fishnets and these heels that she has absolutely no business dancing in. But, she was so good! And this one," she hit Ricky's arm. "This one got up on the stage and the two danced to Janet Jackson's 'If.' Which, is pretty ballsy considering that her husband was right there."
"Her husband had his eyes on her the entire time," Ricky lowered the phone before speaking back into the phone. "OKay, so we'll meet for lunch. Okay. Love you, too," he smiled from ear to ear when he said that.
"I cannot wait for this honeymoon stage to be over," Mel rolled her eyes.
"And I cannot wait for Annisa to get here so you can focus on her and not me."
"I will always have time to focus on you," Mel reached over and touched Ricky's chin as she blew him a kiss. "With me back, you two will have my undivided attention."
Ricky knocked her hand away. "Don't touch me."
Mel smiled as she sat back and sipped her drink.
"So, what are you two here for?" Carmen asked.
"Not for you," I shot her a look.
"I'm being polite. Besides, it may be something that we can be of help," she looked at me.
"Excuse me," Ricky put his phone to his ear as he got up and walked away."Hey, JEM."
"I swear they have GPS on each other," Mel shook her head.
"They seem close," Carmen nodded.
"As thick as thieves," she crossed her fingers as she held them up. "He's feeling bad about the whole bad-ass friend thing and his complete acceptance of her. We're here because he wants to pay to have her office decorated."
