chapter 6 - the defeat

As I was sitting on my bed already crying, I know that she is going to beat the hell out of me.

I know Justin will add more lies to my problems.

I walk to his room he was looking into space. He saw me and he shut the door in my face. I hear the grill pull and I go inside my room closing the door.

I heard a voice shouting. I jumped when I heard a banging on my room door.

"Deja Brown open this damn door" she exclaimed.

I walked to the door wiping my tears.

"Come in the living room" she walks and I followed.

"Tell me what you see Justin," she says sitting down.

"She did a come out a wah car wid a big man mus him yard she go, and when I catch r the man box mi down like a mi father and mommy a wah man from up a hill, maybe she all have sex wid him," he said glaring at me.

"Jesus Christ Deja no you say a match yah go, uh wah breed before time, e pickney," she said shaking me.

"A lie him a tell mi no go a nobody yard him jus drop me home, and me nah have sex wid nobody Justin stop tell lie" I sobbed.

"She a lie Mummy she has a man" Justin argue.

"Wah gwan in yah so" Justin daddy David say sitting down.
And Justin tells him the lie all over again.

"Mi no know weh me ago do with you Deja u a embarrass me," she says walking to her bedroom.

I walked behind her " mommy I'm not having sex I promise, Justin almost rape me wah day yah" I sobbed.

She turned looking at me" WHAT".
"Justin a true say you mek move pan Deja".

"Mi mommy? a lie she a tell why mi woulda wah deh wid mi sister" he lied.

"Why you stay so, uh damn lie Deja, go fi mi belt Justin" she shouted.

I was gonna run but David ole on pan mi a ole me down n she lick mi out the belt till mi couldn't feel mi legs good. I cried some much that I wish it would just drown me.

She and David went to their bed and I was just sitting looking into space with the tears dripping on my shirt.

"Deja why you woulda tell dem that, princess you know dem nah go believe you" he laughed pushing my hair out my face.

I was too weak to push him away.
"Sexy Deja" he grabbed my throat making me look into his eyes.

"Did you fuck him?" he whispered in my ears.

I just glare at him.

I sat up and hopped to my room shutting the door. Then I screamed into my pillow.

The next morning I went to school. I was in mathematics class not paying attention to anything. I had bandages on my cuts and I let go of my hair so the bruises on my neck wouldn't show.

One of my classmates touched me and I realize sir call me up to the board and mi never get it right and the whole class starts to laugh. I walked to my desk grabbed my bag walking out I don't care if dem give me detention.

I went to the bathroom sitting on the toilet seat crying my eyes out. I can't do this anymore, I tried God but it's not working.

It was lunchtime and mi did still sit down in the bathroom it never smell it did clean.

"I'm here" I cried out, I put down my school bag on the ground. Then opened the door hugging her she hugged me back telling me it's gonna be alright.

When she tapped my back a little too hard I felt a sharp pain.

"Ahhh Anna".

"Deja a wah happen to you, please tell me," she says holding my face.

I told her about my abusive brother and mother. I told her about Killian.

The beating, everything.

"Omg Deja that's awful, why is she like this towards her own daughter, how uh fi have you teenage daughter n non believe weh she a say".

"I'm sorry so sorry about this Deja, I wish you would just come and live with me" she said crying as well

"I can't they would send out a missing poster about me, I'll be fine I guess," I said wiping my eyes.

"Weh mi cya understand is dirty Justin how him wah sleep wid him stepsister that is sick as fuck me wah see him fi fuck up him rass" she said kicking the bathroom door.

"Come on we a skull class we ago up a me house so I can see the cuts and mek mummy treat dem member she a nurse and you no wah see no doctor remember".

"What if she thinks differently about me Anna".

"Deja your my sister and her second daughter she nah judge you, you're crazy".

When we reach Anna's home her brother and Killian did deh there talking until he saw me.

"Weh you a do home so early a cya skull uh skull class, uh see weh man a talk bout the bad company," he says explaining to Killian weh nah pay him no mind, he was observing me.

"Deja honey come I'm sorry I was on a phone call".

"Mum tell uh son fi leave d alone," Anna said glaring at her big brother.

"Brandon yah man r boy," she said walking away with me.

Me did a wear bra and tights.
She did a dress the cuts and also gave me some encouraging words. I told her I didn't want to go to the police because my stepfather and them a friend.

"Umm- Miss Nova-" I started saying

"Deja you can call me Nova please" she smiled a little.

"I got my period and I don't have anything to put on," I said.

"Ok Deja, don't be afraid to ask me for anything ok, me and Anna will always be there for you okay" she gave me a motherly hug.

And I just broke down in her arms.
She kissed my head and Anna join the hug.

It wasn't until I calmed down that she showed me the bathroom to clean up myself, then she instructed me to change into clean underwear, a large t-shirt, a sweater, and socks. Anna wanted me to be as comfortable as possible, so she left the guest room where I fell asleep.
