Just a flash?

It's faint, but I can hear. The sound of water. Waves crashing on rocks. I wonder, did I doze off at some beach party? It feels kinda' cold and a roughness beneath me; wet sand I guess.
Well... this is definitely not a place to sleep.

My limbs felt weak, I sat up straight and opened my eyes. It really was a beach.
A mild wind was blowing. Sand particles rolled off my body.

To my shock, my shirt was torn at the bottom. My trousers are worse. I have this weird feeling that this isn't my real body. Well... Everything feels weird right now. Let's forget that. My arms and legs are fine and healthy. Just a bruise on my left elbow.

Now, to look around... Some trees can be seen a bit far. And at my back is the overwhelming sight of endless water. But, why aren't there any people here? No sounds other than the rustling of waves. Not even a bird.

I walked along the coast for sometime, still no sign of life. I tried shouting, "hello, anybody there? What is this place? Hello... Where is everyone? I am.."
Damn! I can't remember!! What was my name?? Did my brain reboot itself or what? I am trying to remember, but whenever I close my eyes to recall something, I just see a flash of light.

I am even speaking a language but don't know where I learnt it! Its frustrating!! I stood there and kept shouting, hoping someone would appear. But it was all in vain.

It took me a while to calm down. I reviewed the situation am in.

Firstly, I cannot recall anything. My name, age, this place and how I got here. Everything is unknown.

But I woke up on the shore with torn clothes. Hence, it can be concluded that things must have been rough with me. Maybe, I was on some cruise ship and the ship got wrecked in a storm and I got washed off on the shore of this island. Well... its the only theory that comes to my mind. But I am not sure if this place is an Island or some country's coast. The latter would be better.

What would be the most reasonable thing to do in this situation?
My stomach's growling. So... there's the answer! Let's get something to eat! I could see some trees over there.

I started my walk through the sand. The sunlight had grown slightly stronger. The sand here is very loose too. My feet keep sinking. I wish this was all a dream but I guess it's not. Pinching doesn't work.

I tried to pace up as much as possible. Numerous thoughts kept coming to my mind. Will I even find anything edible? Is this where I die?

Wait! What was that? I felt something move in the sand to my right. But I couldn't spot anything and continued.

The thoughts started again. This place has started giving me the creeps. Will I be eaten alive by some unholy creature or will I be dying virgin?

I stopped! This time I heard it clear! It was very short but clear. Somebody or something laughed. "Hihi", it came again! A small squeak. A chill ran down my spine! Slowly, I turned around.
