vorfreude

(joyful anticipation)

26th December, 2021

LEE SI WOO wanted to be anywhere but her home. She wasn't in the mood to face her mom's illogical accusations and anger. She was an adult. That's what she always forgot. No matter how much she tried to be independent in her own skin, she always dragged her down.

She was tied to traditional beliefs forcefully against her wish. She wanted to break free of all the controls. Her mother was being too much. Just when she thought that everything was slowly turning out well for her, her mother crumbled everything within seconds. She felt so helpless at times. Seoul was possibly the best thing to happen to her until Seo Woo came along.

If she was that unsatisfied with Seo Woo, she could have just told her in private. There was no need to drag him down infront of people he was unfamiliar with. She could feel how much he must have been feeling embarrassed. She wanted to hug him tight and apologise infinite times. He didn't deserve it.

Just when she started dating him, everything had to tumble down. No matter how much she wanted to have peace, it was never an option.

They had an argument regarding what her mother was advising her to do. Seo Woo was reluctant to continue what they were doing. Si Woo was immature enough to throw a tantrum. She knew pretty well how her mother's selfishness had hurt him but she was not willing to let him go.

Her hand clutched onto Seo Woo's tightly, his warmth spreading on her cold ones. They walked briskly on the snow swept pavement in silence with no destination in mind. She had chosen to drop the topic momentarily and give it some time. They were caught and both of them had different solutions.

"Where would you like to go? Do you want me to drop you at your home?" Seo Woo asked softly, meeting her hazel orbs.

"I don't want to go back." Si Woo sniffed, beads of tears glistening around the corner of her eyes."I am done with everything that has to do with my mom. Don't disappoint me by saying that she's right. You know that she's not."

"Don't be too hard on your mother." he offered. "Anyone would be mad if their daughter ended up dating a good for nothing fellow like me. I can understand where she's coming from. You should try to understand, atleast."

"You don't know her." she huffed. "She has to nitpick every single thing. And you're a pretty decent guy. Why should she object to my choice? It's me who's dating not her."

"I might not be someone who's good. You heard about the rumours by now, I hope. Then again, you're way out of my league. I am just lucky that you seemed to like me too."

"There's nothing called 'league'. It's the feelings that matter. Stop calling me that. Do I have some grand titles beside my name? No. I'm just a plain girl."

"Still..." Seo Woo trailed off. "Your mom's right. She's just trying to give you the best. I am not the best guy you would get. There are tons of fishes in the sea."

"I don't want too. My feelings should matter and I like you. What do you want me to do? Hide it for no reason?"

"No, I am not telling you that -"
