Quantico, 2022
I walked down the long corridor. The LED lights illuminated the blank white walls, as my polished shoes clicked on the tiles. I kept the same pace the entire time, slowly approaching the meeting room. A chatter could be heard from inside and I collected my thoughts. I brought my hand to the door and knocked, opening the door. The room went quiet and the sergeants stood up.

˝Lieutenant!˝ One of them said and saluted. I saluted back and the group quickly left. I turned to the group of higher-ups and straightened my back.

˝Gentleman.˝ I greeted the group.

˝Lt2nd Winchester. Please take a seat.˝ The general said and I walked over to the round table. I sat down and took my cap off.

˝I couldn't come any earlier, I was busy. You wanted to see me?˝ I asked as the men sat down around the table.

˝Yes we did. And don't worry about your timing, we expected a bit of lost time considering the amount of work you were given lately. But, that to the side, we nee to talk about a job we feel you're the only one competent enough for.˝ Said the general, looking me in the eyes.

˝What kind of a job sir?˝ I asked raising my brow, wondering what job would need a lieutenant to work.

˝As you most likely know, a lot of very important historical documents were stolen and burned very recently. A lot of them were returned but-˝ He started, but I cut him mid-sentence.

˝Returned? I'm sorry for the interruption sir, but how were burned documents returned?˝ I asked, with confusion on my face, leaning forward on my elbows.

˝Well you see. A machine has been made to travel through time. We tested and approved it about a year or so ago. We used it to return the majority of the burned documents. The sergeants from before actually dropped of some of them. But we are missing the ones from 1917. When the US joined World War 1. We wanted to send you because of a few back tracks from before.˝ Explained the colonel, setting his coffee mug down on a table.

˝What were the backtracks?˝ I asked, furrowing my brows.

˝Well, we need to let the time authorities to know we pose as no treat. They don't want to talk to anyone lower than lieutenant. And your social and communications skills are four better than many. So you will be sent back in time to 1917. You will gather the documents and some other information we will tell you. Is it understandable?˝ Continued colonel and I nodded.

˝Yes, sir. When do I leave?0 I asked, placing my cap back on.

˝You may go and pack your things, even though you won't need many. We will send a private to get you.˝ The general said, standing up. I, too, stood up saluting the group and leaving.
