"Sam? Charlie?" Dean spoke from the other end of the call that was still taking place.

Charlies and Sam's eyes flicked back to the phone.

"Yeah?" Sam asked.

"Who already knew?" Dean asked.

"Vex." Charlie responded.

Should I tell them my real name? I feel like I can trust them.

What the hell am I thinking? I can't trust anyone, no matter how nice they are, it will end badly for the both of us. No getting close to people, no friends, no talking. Just silence. Always.

I dropped the smirk off my face and finished off my coffee before placing the cup in the sink and walking out of the room, the heels of my boots tapping on the floor as I walked.

Charlie and Sam exchanged a glance and finished talking to Dean before following after me. Charlie knocked on the doorframe of my open door before poking her head in.

"You okay?" She asked.

I nodded and continued to take apart my pistol and clean it.

"I gotta ask, is Vex your real name?" She asked.

I hesitated.

I can trust her, right? Should I?

I shook my head, not looking up from the unloaded gun I was holding. Charlie didn't say anything, just walked over and pulled a chair over next to where I was sitting at my desk. I continued doing my thing for a second before giving in and deciding I could trust her.

I pulled out a pen and a notebook from the drawer of my desk and quickly scribbled something down. I didn't feel like signing right now. My knuckles hurt and they would just break back open and start bleeding again if I moved my hands around too much. I dropped the pen and slid the notebook over to in front of Charlie.

"Y/n." She read aloud.

I nodded.

"What happened last night? What were all of those photos and maps for?" She asked.

You're not gonna want to get close to me if I tell you. I wrote down.

"It can't be that bad. I hunt demons and ghosts for a living. Not much scares me."

I sighed and hesitated for a second before signing my answer. It was too long of a response to write down.

"When I was little, my parents got into some bad shit. They made some enemies along the way and we spent my entire childhood moving from place to place, never staying in one spot for more than three months. When I turned 18, we moved here. We were followed and my parents were murdered in front of me. Their throats were slit. The man came after me as well. He tried to kill me the same way. He tied me to a chair and slit my throat before leaving me for dead. Well, as you can see, I'm not dead." I signed, pausing for a second and running my fingers over the scar across my neck.

Why was I telling her my entire life story? I just met her.

"That's what the scar is from, isn't it, and why you can't speak?" She asked.

I nodded and went back to reassembling my now cleaned pistol. I reloaded it and checked it over to make sure everything was okay with it before standing up and tucking it into the back of my jeans, sliding my shirt down over it to hide it as best as possible.

"The pictures you saw were my targets. I was getting my revenge on the men who ruined my life and made me watch as my entire world came crumbling down around me. I hunted them down one by one and killed them and their families. No children. Just their wives, who, in my defence, also helped with the process. So it wasn't like I was killing innocent civilians for my night job. I killed them the same way they killed my parents, just bloodier. Katana to the throat."

Seriously, why am I putting so much trust in her? She's just gonna leave me in the end anyway. Everyone does. What the hell's the point?

Sam knocked on the doorframe just as Charlie had before coming in.

"Dean and Cas are heading back to the bunker. We can stay for a bit longer if you want and it's okay with Vex." He informed.

Charlie looked to me for permission. I nodded and let her speak.

"It's Y/n." She told Sam.

"Huh?"

"Her name isn't Vex. That's her undercover name. Her real name is Y/n."

"Oh, okay," He paused. "So if it's cool with you, Y/n, is it okay if Charlie and I crash here for another night or two?"

I pressed my lips into a smile and nodded.

"Hell yeah, bitches!" Charlie exclaimed, pumping her fist in the air while cheering. "We are having a movie marathon! Let me go grab my laptop."

She got up from where she was sitting and pushed past Sam, running out of the room to fetch her laptop.

Was I really allowing myself to get close to someone? Well, two people? I feel like I can trust them. I mean, they stayed with me over night just to make sure I was okay. Sam held me last night during my breakdown even though we had just met minutes prior.

Why was I letting them stay here? It's going to end badly. Getting close to them will end badly. Trusting them will end badly. Everything ends badly.
