"oh my god."
'oh my god' was right. the whole night honestly deserves a giant 'oh my god'.
a giant, heartwarming, for the love of god—
"oh. my. god."
noya looked like he was holding back a laugh. "and keep up with our tally, that's the fiftieth time she's said that today!"
you gave your best friend a light punch on the arm. "shut up. this deserves an 'oh my god' moment."
and that, you were right.
because in the small gymnasium at tokyo university, everyone was present. and now, don't take that word lightly; by everyone, it was everyone.
everyone from (what used to be) the entire karasuno team, and (what used to be) the entire shiratorizawa team were here. not to mention everyone else from the tokyo and kyoto teams.
maybe a little bit of explaining would be necessary...
currently, it was the day after the tokyo vs kyoto match—also known as the final volleyball game of the entire season...and for many, the final volleyball game ever, in their university careers.
and with the sports season and the semesters coming to an end, the looming graduation date was nearing closer and closer.
(oh. and just a p.s, kyoto won the match. there were five sets in the finals and teams were neck-at-neck, all the way until the very end. )
because graduation was coming up so soon, it inevitably meant that the days of university were also coming to a final end.
it was oddly nostalgic... and unoddly beautiful. it almost perfectly reflected how you felt at your high school graduation.
bittersweet, wonderful growth.
and of course, as we mark the end of an era, a celebration is always needed.
thus, the day after the final volleyball game, you, along with everyone else, found yourselves at a final party. in the gymnasium.
because where else would be better to hold a party than the gym itself? after all, it's where four years of university have been spent for practically everyone in the room.
you just didn't expect that... everyone would be here. everyone you've lost contact with, everyone you've heard about, and everyone you still love.
it was beautiful. it felt like a new home was being created, and it was beyond comforting to recognize that even though the days of an era are coming to an end, a new sense of home is still beginning.
it was a giant reunion.
a very, very long awaited one.
you smiled at the beauty of it all.
with your smile never even leaving your face once, you immersed yourself into the crowd of familiar and not-so-familiar people.
it's time to reunite, unite, and reunite some more.
