On a Sunday afternoon, Ryan was getting out of the shower after mowing the lawn. She changed into her lounging clothes and sat on her bed to relax and read the news. Scanning the headlines led her to something interesting; a news report about a deceased police officer whose body had been found with the heart missing as if it had been ripped out. Ryan was stunned, and she concluded that someone who had taken the cyan drug would be capable of such a vicious crime. To add to this, she realized that the situation would eventually get much worse. Suddenly, the phone rang, and Ryan answered to hear Jordan’s voice on the other end. “Hey,” Ryan said. “Did ya see the news?” the boy asked.

“Yeah, a cop got his heart ripped out.”

Reading the report gave him chills. “Yeah, it’s brutal. So do you think someone on Meta-X is behind it?”

“I don’t know, but… Meta-X? Where’d you get that from?” Ryan wondered.

“That’s what people are calling it on the streets,” Jordan explained.

“Great, it’s branded. Anyway, someone who took the drug could be behind this. Anything else on the report?” Ryan asked.

“Yeah, get this; the cop was found dead in his home, right? There was no sign of forced entry, the front and back doors were locked, and the windows were sealed. Not only that, but the police found a set of footprints that belong to a man, size 14 or 15.”

Ryan was astounded but perplexed at the same time. “So, how did the killer get in the house?”

“The cops asked the same thing. The commissioner said that they don’t have an answer. Oh, and one more thing; a guy from IAB says that the dead cop was under suspicion of possessing marijuana and coke. He said the same about the other cop that was found dead in his apartment three days ago. Heart ripped out.”

“So, the killer has beef with corrupt cops,” Ryan concluded. “Yeah, b-b-but, why?” Jordan asked, curiously. Suddenly, there was a knock on Ryan’s bedroom door. “Uh, I gotta go. I’ll call back later,” she said as she hung up. The door opened, and Freya stepped in with a small package in her hands. “This came for you,” she said, handing the box to Ryan. “Thanks…?” Ryan said in confusion. After Freya left the room, Ryan closely examined the box’s exterior; she didn’t remember ordering anything. She pulled the plastic and tape from one side of the box, which revealed a note that read; To Ryan, from your boy, Jordan L. She smiled and rolled her eyes as she opened the box with a pair of scissors. Pulling back the flaps of the box revealed a white domino mask and another note.

She picked it up, and the note read; Hey, bud. I made this mask for you, it’s made of the same fabric as your suit. I custom-molded it for your head, so it should be a good fit and give you quite a bit of protection… I think. Anyway, you’re welcome, and I’m a genius, I know. She put the mask on, got up, and looked in the mirror. This was quite an upgrade compared to her face paint, Ryan thought. She changed into her super-suit, then tied her hair up in a high ponytail and put on the anti-gravity belt. Her cell phone rang once more, and she answered it. “Hey,” she said. “Did ya get my gift?” Jordan asked.

“Yeah, I did. I like it.”

“I knew you would. Hey, have you heard from Evie lately?”  Jordan wondered.

“No. I haven’t. The last time I talked to her was a month ago. She told me that she was working as a part-time model. ”

Jordan instantly became intrigued. “A model, huh? Good for her. Y’know, Star always wanted to be one. She thinks that it’s the only way to get Gary’s attention.”

Ryan almost chuckled. “Hope she gets the opportunity,” she replied.

“Uh, hold on for a second… Hey, I borrowed my uncle’s police scanner. There’s a robbery at a bank,” Jordan informs her.
