Ryan met with Jordan at his house a few hours later and explained Meta-X’s true purpose, and Coach Martin’s connection to her father, to him. The young genius was blown away. “Oh, crap. A serum that could cure any type of cancer? Dang, that is so freaking cool,” he said in awe. “I can’t believe Coach Martin and your dad knew each other.” “I know. It sounded like he and my dad were close. Dad wanted to help people, but Coach Martin just wanted to create super athletes. I mean, that’s just wrong,” Ryan said with displeasure. Jordan scoffed, “Hey, I wouldn’t mind getting sick to have superpowers,” he said dramatically. “Really?” Ryan asked with an unamused, blank face.

Jordan chuckled a little. “No, I’m just screwing with you.”

“Uh… yeah. Real funny,” Ryan replied sarcastically. “So, can we focus or what?”

“Sure, sure. So, do you think Coach Martin stole your dad’s formula and jacked it up?”

“Maybe, who knows? Since he and my dad were tight, he could’ve shared things with him,” Ryan guessed. “It’s hard to believe that Coach Martin would work for Mr. X. But why, though?”

“Speaking of Coach Martin, the dead guy that killed your mom? I got an ID on him,”- Jordan showed her Fang’s photo on the school website on his computer- “His name is Fredrick Allen Nickolas Garner. He used to be captain of our school’s football team and was known for his great strength and aggression as a player”- he turned to Ryan- “Sound familiar?”

“He’s been taking Meta-X, and I bet his friends were taking it too.”

Jordan felt a little confused and asked, “Wait, wait, wait, if they’re taking the drug, then why didn’t Coach Martin cut them from the team or report them to Principal Lewis?”

“Maybe Mr. X threatened him or something, I don’t know. But if Coach Martin IS working for him, then perhaps he knows where I can find him” Ryan hoped. Before she could leave, Jordan stopped her with a question and worried look. “You mentioned that your dad’s mom died of Huntington’s. Did you ever get… or did he get…,” Jordan was too distressed and afraid to finish his question. “I…”- she looked away from him, appearing a little flustered- “I don’t know. I pray to God that we don’t have it,” Ryan said, as she left his room.

Later on, towards the evening, Angel Girl arrived at an aging, gray house. She landed on the walkway and headed to the door. “If dad’s right, then this must be Coach Martin’s house,” she thought to herself. She knocked on the door but got no response, so broke the door open with a single shoulder bump. Walking further inside, to her left she saw the living room and entered it to  Martin laying on his loveseat facing away from the turned-off TV, with an empty bottle of beer next to him. The heroine was ready to confront him. “Coach Martin, wake up! You got some explaining to do,” she demanded, but the man didn't respond. “Don’t pretend you can’t hear me,”- she marched over to him- “Get up!” Still unresponsive, the heroine turned the man over, and he fell off the sofa, his severed head tumbling a few feet from the body. Angel Girl was caught completely off-guard by this but, thankfully, it was a mannequin. But the girl’s ears caught the faint sound of ticking. She looked around for the source of the noise and realized that it wasn’t coming from the clock on the wall, but from the mannequin itself.

Pulling apart the shirt that covered the prop, Angel Girl discovered a bomb, with a timer slowly counting down. “Oh, crap,” she said, as the device detonated, obliterating the house in the process. The neighbors came out of their homes and approached the burning remains of the house, shocked by what they were witnessing. Angel Girl was shaken but intact, and lifted a huge portion of flaming rubble off of her with ease. Her suit had taken the brunt of the blast and, other than a few tears and scorches, was still functional. She fled the scene and got a call from Jordan on her ear-piece communicator as she hovered in place. “Yeah?” she answered. “Hey, I intercepted a transmission from Mr. X’s gang. They’re heading to the Salem Skies Airport to deliver cases of Meta-X to New York. Better hurry,” Jordan informed her. Angel Girl took off towards the location.
