Briggs and I walk into the precinct after investigating the St. Laurent Medical Center. Or what's left of it anyway. Eight bodies found cut up and decapitated. There's was literally a trail of organs that led to one body being hung by their intestines. That shit was personal
Only thing I kept thinking was "what the hell did they do to make that person so mad?"
Don't get me wrong. A victim is a victim and justice will be brought but something isn't right. Five years on the force, three as a detective and I have never seen a crime scene like that. And I've see the worst of it all, including babies missing faces.
The world is one fucked up place. It's one of the reasons I became an officer. Be the change you want to see in the world. Most cops come in with an open mind believe they can help make a difference. Wanna change the system from the inside. That is until the job beats them down.
To most, you can throw that optimistic shit out the window, they just want to make it to their bed at the end of the night. Not me. I honestly don't believe my job is complete if I feel like I didn't make a difference in a case. I just wonder what difference I can make with this one
