The boys and I are sitting in the back, watching the kids help the child patients. We had this idea to help out with a non profit organization. They were visiting a children's hospital to let the kids create "messenger birds" to tell the visitors about their sickle cell. We wanted the boys to help because why not. So here we are. Plus I needed the distraction.

The city has been up in arms since Schroeder's death and the rich people have been down our throats to find out what happened. It's not because they care that he died, it's because they're afraid to die next.

Like damn. Man isn't even in the ground yet but his colleagues wants to spend every resource to make sure he was the only one.

Ain't that some shit

I'm still horrified by watching him die. His eyes got so red and his skin started to peel like he suddenly got the worse cause of epidermolysis bullosa. Blood was pouring from his mouth and it was just bad. Most scaring shit I've ever seen.

His wife, who's name is Lana, has been the most cooperative but something was different. She wasn't as robotic. Her motions became fluid and she wasn't the person Miah and Nic met. However, she was willing to take a lie detector test and everything. She didn't kill him

Toxicology report came back saying he was poisoned, with what? No one knows. It wasn't ingested. There were no puncture wounds. Sandra even checked to see if someone put it up his ass. NOTHING. I thought the Ivanov situation was bad but this....

Then there's the question of if these are connected. Within two and a half months, two "innovators" were dead. Suspicious, right?

I put my head in my hands as my mind races a mile a minute. People are going to want an answer fast but I don't want to be one of those cops that just uses anyone to take the fall. That's shit can fire back in the worst way. The city owing money, someone getting fired as a scapegoat AND the actual killer would still be loose. No this has to be done the right way but where do we start?

"I don't know who's worse, you or him?"

I look over my shoulder to see X pointing at Jeremiah. He's texting on his phone, breaking out in a windex stray bottle laugh. We just look at him. He looks up confused
