"I already settle everything son, all you have to do is marry that woman." I tightly grip my glass after hearing that. I look at my father who seems so peaceful while eating his dinner. Mom look at me with concern while my brother suddenly keep quite in his sit.
"I don't want to marry, not now and not to anyone else." I answered before drinking every drop of wine in my glass. I saw my dad suddenly stop before looking at me with his raised eyebrow.
"Maximus you know that this marriage will lead to good partnership." His voice suddenly goes to calm to irritated, I smirk. No one can tame me, even my father can't dictate what I want to do in my life.
"Partnership in what, dad? In business or in my other business?" I ask. he knew that when it comes to business I don't need partnership, in fact mostly people need me for their business.
"Ortolano, that is her surname. I know you knew someone who's last name is that. Ortolano is one of the most wealthiest and know in business industry in Spain. They can help you expand your other business there too." I clear my throat before look at him. I can't believe he already plan everything, my relationship with my father is somehow bit rough because of our different perspectives but as a son I don't disrespect his decision. I took a deep breath, I know him very well he will never let this topic slide.
"I don't need to marry someone just to have partnership, dad. I don't think your idea is good" I calmly said but I guess that gives fuel to what he is holding inside. He slam his hand in the table, hard enough to make noise and to make some things fall from the table.
"Don't you ever give me that tone young man! I am still the head in this family, and you can't change anything about it." He firmly said, namumula na rin ang kanyang mukha. I just look at him blankly.
"Tell me Maximus, it is because of that Serene again?" natigilan ako nang banggitin niya ang pangalan ng babaing mahal ko.
"So, siya nga ang dahilan kung bakit ka ganyan ngayon? She is no good Maximus. Don't you understand? she betrayed you, she's traitor." I tightly hold my glass but I don't response to him either. I respect him so much, it just hit me because it's true. Serene betrayed me.
"Hon, calm down. Mamaya nyo na muna yan pag-usapan, kumain muna tayo. Belinda, pakikuha ako ng kutsara at tinidor." Mom softly caress my father's arm before looking at me with her sweet smile like she's ordering me to calm down. I just nod before diverting my glance to my brother who is now frowning while looking at dad.
"Did he said Ortolano?" he suddenly burst out. I look at dad then I look back to him.
"I believe so." I answered, I'm about to eat when he murmur a curse. I look at him again not knowing he's looking at me too.
"What?" I ask, he open his mouth and about to say something but suddenly he's taking aback and just shrug. I frown. What the fuck is that ?
We eat peacefully after that night, they didn't open that topic until now. My father just sent me some of his men to fetch me in my office for a dinner with my unknow fiancé. What am I, a kid that you need to fetch after school? fuck that!
"Tell dad that I can't. I have an urgent meeting and I can't missed this one." I don't want to lie but this is the only way.
"Right away, Sir." Rob said before they leave my office. I took a deep breath before dialing Liam's number. After a few ring he finally answered.
