The day after Iwaizumi promised to call was a school day. He had completely forgot in the midst of all his angsty teenage drama. It was just today before the weekend and he could easily avoid (Y/N). Well, more like avoid what she might bring up. He desperately wanted to talk to her, but he didn't call her. He didn't want to call her last night. Did she wait up for his call?

He came to school earlier than usual, so as to avoid her coming over and walking to school with him. He didn't feel like explaining himself, especially to the person at the root of all the feelings he was pushing down.

Iwaizumi walked through the school gate and headed straight for the gym. He planned on practicing since he cut his practice short yesterday. Nobody comes this early to practice anyway, so it should be fine. Unless...lo and behold, his underclassman was already in the gym setting for himself and spiking. Spiking haphazardly, one would admit. The younger was a mess, a complete novice with his aim, but carried great power with his spikes.

And that would be a problem for Oikawa when he arrived. Iwaizumi immediately turned on his heel and started walking away. He wanted nothing to do with the younger, and he didn't feel like being around the guy who was the object of (Y/N)'s affections. At least, not until he was able to flip the switch of toleration, but it was too early for that.

But the nagging voice in his head pleaded that he at least help the boy. Iwaizumi was his idol, and the younger did nothing wrong to receive this kind of treatment. Iwaizumi argued with himself for a few seconds, standing not too far from the gym doors, until the voice won and he walked inside.

Kyotani shot one last spike before noticing Iwaizumi walk in. The underclassman's eyes shot open slightly with excitement, as if reeling his feelings in so as not to scare off his idol. Meanwhile, Iwaizumi said nothing as he pulled out a water bottle from his bag, and set down on the opposite side of the court. He tossed his backpack to the side and walked over to Kyotani to take the ball. He set it for himself then spiked it, hitting the bottle with ease. Iwaizumi jogged over to the bottle, set it up again, and retrieved the ball for Kyotani.

Iwaizumi gave the boy a pat on his back before picking up the bag he tossed and left the gym. Iwaizumi's conscience would tolerate kindness to at least that extent for Kyotani. It wouldn't help with the boy's form, or actually help all that much, but it was the least Iwaizumi could do, he thought.

That morning, he spent his time waiting for class to start after dropping his bag off at his desk. He roamed the school until the time he was sure (Y/N) would arrive, and he hid in the library. It was an insult to (Y/N), but she wouldn't be caught dead this early in the morning in the library. She would either come just a few minutes before class, or sleep on her desk until class started. There were the occasional times she would be talking with Oikawa and Iwaizumi, but he doubted she would be doing that.

When school started, Iwaizumi felt at ease knowing he and (Y/N) were in separate classes. He wouldn't have to try to ignore the burning sensation of her eyes bearing their way through his skull. The next problem was what he would do for lunch.

She would no doubt rush into his classroom and demand where he had been all day. His hoped, and he couldn't believe the thought came to mind, was that she would be too preoccupied with Kyotani to remember last night.

The most annoying part was Oikawa's unwavering curiosity of Iwaizumi's sudden disappearance in the morning. Iwaizumi could feel the incoming annoying energy from Oikawa that he couldn't ignore. He could practically hear Oikawa's voice asking him what happened despite knowing what exactly was going on.

When lunch finally came, Iwaizumi rushed out the classroom to buy his lunch. Today wasn't the day she would be coming over to drop off her snacks to share, but he had forgotten to bring a lunch like he told himself the night prior.
