AFTER WORK the next day, I came home to find Charlie - human and fully clothed, thank God - stretched out on the couch in the sun. My parents weren't home, as evidenced by a note taped to the fridge which read:

        Dear Bella,

We have gone out to visit Aunt Rebecca. There's food in the fridge if you get hungry, and if you can, please start on something for dinner.

We love you, Mom and Dad.

I smiled, shaking my head fondly as I read the note. There go my parents treating me like I'm 14 again. (no disrespect to parents but mom i know what to do when i'm on my own)

I went to the living room. Charlie was sleeping, his mouth open slightly. The TV was on, softly blaring the theme music from Lord of The Rings. I had nothing better to do except have a life and be a normal person,(and as you all know that is completely unacceptable) so I sat down next to Charlie, who started to wake up. Or so I thought.

I realized that Charlie really was a cat when he wrapped his arms around my waist, sighing in pleasure, and fell asleep again. I'd never really thought of him that way, as an affectionate cat; more like a touch-starved human who just happened to sport feline ears and a tail.

I squinted in the sunlight as I looked out the bay window. Far below I could see little specks that I assumed were people, but one really had no idea. Bigger, faster moving squarish blobs were cars, and polygons in the distance were other buildings. I felt so high up, so distanced from everyone, so alone, and then Charlie woke up (for real this time).

His head had somehow made its way to my breast, and when he moved I realized it for the first time. He moved to look up at me, and his pupils widened, black islands growing in a sea of grey-blue. I noticed that his eyes dilated like a cat's, whenever he was excited, or comfortable, though they appeared to be human, not cat eyes.

"Reeoww." The sound slipped out of his mouth. Those plump, perfect little lips that I just wanted to kiss over and over. (please tell me someone else feels this way about charlie)

"Hi buddy," I said, flushing. We stayed like that, laying together, for a long time, each staring into the other's eyes. He made small noises of protest when I finally got up, sliding out from under him.

A sleepy, blinking Charlie followed me to the kitchen as I plopped pasta into a pot, and then to my bedroom. "Mama?" My eyebrows shot up, but I thought he was still half asleep. Probably.

"Mama, read to me?" He rolled over to look at me from where he was curled up on my bed.

Oh, you thought we were going to address the problem of Charlie's clingy-ness from the last chapter? Ha ha f*ck no. Another short filler because I need to do my school work and also I'm having a bit of writer's block. My muse has taken a small vacation, but I hope she will be back soon.
