HEATING THE METEL OF THE KNIFE UNDER THE LIGHTER HER GAZE REMAINED ON THE TWO BOYS NEARBY.

They laughed boisterously kicking a football boy to each other, running around a small area of muddy wasteland. A mechanics shop sat near by the sound of machinery mixing in the humid summer air.

After the fight in the shop things had settled; Yelena and Katya sitting at a picnic table. A large array of first aid supplies spread over the table. Natasha had disappeared to get them all drinks.

Flicking the lighter closed she hovered the knife over a particularly deep gash on her side. Glancing up she saw Yelena shooting her a disapproving look. She ignored it pressing the blade down carefully letting out a hiss of pain as the skin burnt together creating a seal.

"Jesus Christ." John cursed worry burning in his gut. He was glad she was taking care of the cut he just wished she was doing it in a way that wouldn't hurt her more.

"That needed stitches." Yelena reprimanded unimpressed. Letting the blade fall on the table she grabbed the disinfectant pouring a large amount onto a cotton pad. She pressed it down wincing as she wiped away the remaining blood. Wrapping it tightly with a bandage.

"This is faster. I would rather not bleed to death."

Bruce frowned at her medical knowledge. Cauterization could be deadly if not done right. She wasn't wrong about the bleeding to death part. It would stop that.

Her face scrunched up in pain as she pressed a cloth to her head, wiping away the dried blood from the crash. Out of the corner of her eye she watched Yelena medathodically clean her wound; Hissing as she poured a cleaning solvent onto it.

She was done with her head when Natasha returned beer bottles in hand placing one in front of Yelena and then Katya as she sat next to her. "One time, and one time only." she warned. Katyas lips twirked up as she took it taking a long drink. Basking as the cool liquid made its way down her throat. Natasha had made her disapproval very clear over her drinking.

Micheal smirked as he watched her take a drink not wincing at the burn.

They sat in silence for a few moments before yelena broke it watching Natasha closely. "That gas. The counteragent. It was synthesised in secret by an old widow from Melina's generation."

Natasha clung to her words watching her in interest. "I- we were on a mission to retrieve it, and she exposed me and I killed the widow who freed me." Yelena admitted guilt wracking her voice as she looked up in shame.

Jason felt his stomach twist. He knew what it was like having regrets.

"Did you have a choice?"
