GreysonI stood to my brother's right as we had our picture taken. "Now, why don't you two shake hands?" The wedding photographer arched his bushy brow. He put his hand up to his chin in thought. He directed me and Colton to slightly turn toward the camera.
I was getting annoyed at this guy and all the wedding pictures he was taking. I don't like weddings to begin with.
He shouted. "Miss Prescott," Kendall looked over at him. He beckoned her to join me, Colton, and Andrea. She seemed flustered.
"I'd like to take one last photo of the bride and groom—along with the maid of honor and the best man." He pointed as to where we should stand. "Grey, you need to wrap your arm around Kendall's waist." I reached out, pulling Kendall close to my side as I held her waist.
I could feel her slightly trembling. I heard her heart beating. Mine started to echo hers. She looked beautiful today. I couldn't deny seeing her walking up the aisle at the wedding, as the maid of honor—threw me for a loop. Her beauty took me by surprise.
"On the count of three, everyone smile—one . . . two . . . three." I saw the camera flash. He took the last outside photo of the bridal party.
We were finally able to make it inside and grab something to eat, before the cocktail hour ended. Savannah caught up to me. I forgot I left her behind. We all made a b-line to make a small plate of appetizers. I was starving.
"Grey," Savannah whined. "I made a small plate we can share." She pouted.
I smiled. "That's enough food for you to eat. I haven't eaten breakfast or lunch—I'm hungry. Thank you, but I'm making a larger plate than that." I laughed. She squinted her eyes at me and left the line to sit at the bridal table.
I saw Kendall up ahead. "The food looks delicious."
"I was just thinking that. I love shrimp cocktail." She sounded happy.
"I do too. I didn't get to tell you how beautiful you look today." I had to let her know—even though she probably didn't want to speak to me.
She blushed. "Thank you. You look quite handsome." She surprised me with a compliment.
"Thank—" I got out, as she was walking away. How did we get to this place in our friendship?

Kendall
I was glad to be seated next to Andrea and Greyson sat on the other side his brother, Colton.
The music came to a hush and the DJ made a request. "I'd like our bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Colton Carrington to have their first dance as husband and wife.
They looked so in love dancing to their song and gazing in each other's eyes. I grabbed my linen napkin from the table to dab at the tears pooling at the corners of my eyes. I felt like grabbing the whole tablecloth, I was feeling so emotional. It was dreamy watching them dance at their wedding.
The DJ made a second request, while the bride and groom were still dancing. "I would like to invite the maid of honor and the best man to join our wedding couple on the dance floor."
Greyson put down his glass of champagne. He offered me his arm and escorted me to the dance floor. The DJ started playing one of my new favorite songs—Paper Hearts by Tori Kelly. For some reason, it reminded me of Greyson. I could remember the first time I met him, up to the moment he received a phone call from Savannah.
I lived through memories of our friendship, that I had hoped would turn into a great love. I thought we'd have a happy ever after. I daydream about what could have been—a happy family with Greyson. I often wonder what he's up to, when I allow my mind to drift. I know he was falling in love with me too, but Savannah changed any chances of that.
We began to sway to the music as the melody started. I didn't even realize Andrea and Colton had left us on the dance floor. It was unusual for the maid of honor to dance with the best man. This was Andrea up to her matchmaking. I let myself enjoy being in the safety of his arms—after I got over the fact that I was actually dancing with him.
I will never forget the way Greyson stood and held me while I cried a river of tears. I remember him pressing his lips to mine in a soft kiss that lingered. It was so simple, but amazing. I will never forget the way he stood from the dinner table and defended my honor at Mark West and Victoria Beaumont's engagement party. What an awesome man.
I sighed. It was so bitter sweet, especially swaying in his arms. It felt like we were the only two people in the room.
He whispered close to my ear. "Are you alright Kendall? I wasn't expecting to dance with you this evening. I'm glad we had this opportunity. We rarely get to talk anymore."
"I'm fine. I just remembered the friendship we had," I quickly dropped my gaze to the dance floor, as I spoke softly.
Greyson lifted my chin and wiped a stray tear. I could feel chills and something in me knew that he still had feelings for me too. My heart battled with my mind on how to feel or think at that very moment.
"Thank you for dancing with me. Unfortunately, I wasn't much of a dance partner. I was mesmerized by the song and the fact that we were on the dance floor. I couldn't help thinking about us." I started rambling.
He touched his finger to my lips. "Shhh . . . You don't have to explain. I get it." He bent his head and kissed me softly. "I enjoyed dancing with you Kendall." Then, he walked away from the dance floor.
I was ready to go home after that dance with Greyson. I made it through the wedding ceremony and taking pictures with the bridal party. That photographer was so annoying. But, I know it's part of the process. I was engaged once. . . . Now, I lost my appetite to eat dinner.
A\N ~ I'm sorry for a short chapter—I was just thinking about this book and wanting to make an update. Sometimes chapters are shorter, if that's where that moment or scenario ends. Thank you so much for reading.
