{Book 2 in The Never Series}
"You won't say anything even now, will you?", he said placing his forehead against mine." Say something Avni.", his words were so silent that for the first time I was dreading him. I was afraid when he would just blast.

Marriage is a social institution that binds two people together for their lifetimes.
A way of saying that you are committed to someone for the rest of your life. A way of saying that you will take care of them, will love them forever and be there for them all the time.
As a girl, I always dreamt of having a perfect husband and a nice family.
But now when I'm just a night away from being with the man I love, a part of me is excited yet nervous. There's this thing that I've never felt before, and I'm not quite sure if I'm ready.
"A noblewoman shouldn't curse." It just felt like yesterday when I met him, offended him, he broke the orphanage Mumma and I build in the name of Arsh Dada. How hate turned into love, I couldn't know.
I sighed as I made my way to the balcony. The wind of the night was cool and soothing, and the night sky was a blanket of stars but the night was not like others, it was special. I looked at the stars and smiled "Hi maa, your Avni is getting married tomorrow."
The stars as expected winked at me again. My heart filled with a strange kind of uneasiness. I don't know what will happen tomorrow, what Arlan will do, what Mr Khanna planned and what my life would be twelve hours from now. All I know is I just want to enjoy this night, and let tomorrow take care of itself.
I looked at the stars as a chill ran down my spine."I wish life wasn't like this." I mumbled quietly." I wish I had you today, maa." I whispered as I wrapped an arm around my heart.
I felt a soft shawl being wrapped around me from behind, my body was wrapped in a warm embrace. I closed my eyes as a warm hand ran over my cheek gently as it was followed by a soft kiss. I sighed as a familiar voice murmured in my ears, "Ms Mehta, I love you, you know that, right?"
I hummed as the stars twinkled and I found myself smiling.
"I'm sorry Miss Mehta." My heart did a double-take as I realized the apology came without a bit of hesitance. "A wedding is a beautiful thing" He paused, "and if it's to someone you love, it is a blessing. Every person has inventions for their wedding, I'm extremely sorry for snatching them from you but I can't stay away from you anymore." My heart swelled as his voice filled the dark night.
"I am a very narcissistic human, you're right. The day you left me," His grip on me tightened."I felt as if you took something precious from me, something I could never recover." My hand reached up to his and within a second he held it in a death grip."That day I realized how you felt when I took away your orphanage."
He wrapped his arms around me tighter, the blanket covering us." Sometimes I feel I don't deserve you but then I'm too selfish to accept that. I am sorry Ms Mehta." He whispered in my ear and I could hear his sincerity in his voice.
"You know the place where the orphanage was built was a very important spot for me." My heart raced as I waited for his next words."It belonged to my.. my younger sister." It was the first time when I heard Mr Khanna's voice fading." It was the place she could never forget." He spoke softly in my ear." Dwayne snatched it away from her and then he snatched my sister from me."
I felt my heart beat faster as I felt his heart pounding loudly against my back."I still remember the sadness in her eyes when she looked at the place where she spent the last moments of his life. When I found out, it was bought by your mother, I felt the sudden urge to snatch it away from you just the way Vidyut did from her. Deep in the soul, I knew it wasn't your mistake but the second you said of how much of a rich brat I was, all I could see was red. I'm so f*cking sorry, my tigress." I felt a tear run down the back of my neck and my heart ached, I wanted to turn around but he held me in place.
"Everyone blamed me for her death, a greater part of me blamed myself too. Vidyut f*cking Dwayne brought me on the streets. He f*cking betrayed me." I felt as if something inside me cracked as I felt another tear on my neck." I was too involved with my pain to see someone else's. I know this is not a reason to hurt someone and that's the reason why I wanted to ask you once again tonight."
My heart pulsated as I began realizing in which direction he was going. He was not the Mr-I'm-a-Block-of-Ice-Khanna I knew, he was a broken-hearted Mr-I'm-a-warm-heart-that-cries-for-true-love-Khanna.
"I didn't lie when I said I am too selfish to let you go but I also don't want to snatch your only thing, your freedom from your hands. I don't want you to leave me but I don't want to force you into this relationship."
I felt him softly kissing the side of my forehead." I never thought I'd ask a woman this but do you really want to marry the person who hurt you so many times, who was incapable of protecting your mother, who..." his words halted as I quickly interrupted him with a no.
"No. I don't." I turned around and kissed his tear away just like he did once."I want to marry the man who protected me from a psychotic stalker not that I asked to, I want to marry the man who helped me in my worst nightmares, I want to marry the man who kept on throwing challenges my way making me stronger with every single passing day. I want to marry the man who gave me the most important lesson of life when I was a kid, who though became the reason for my tears but also was the one who wiped them."
"You were the bracelet girl?", he asked as he ran his fingers through my hair."Yes." I replied as I smiled at him.
He kissed me passionately, my knees going into a weak wobble as I felt him pulling me closer to him and as I fell, I felt his arms wrap around me and that was the moment I knew he was mine."You're a blessing, Ms Mehta. You're the best gift and the best partner I could ever wish for. I love you."
My heart swelled at his confession, the fear I had gone forever. The questions in mind, all answered."A very precious blessing."I looked into his eyes and felt like I was falling into a whole new world.
The best world.
I turned to the stars and saw them twinkling at me.
I really loved this man.
I glanced at him only to witness him staring at the sky too."Mr Khanna?" He hummed as an answer.
I smiled pulling the blanket onto his shoulder."Just a little warning, don't anger me for the next few hours or I'll definitely not speak at the time of our wedding, I'm warning you now." I winked making him lean forward.
Our foreheads touched and he gave me a warm smile."I'll not dare to, Ms Mehta."
From "You'd not dare to" to "I'll not dare to", we came really far.
