When the sun came up, Lorelei wiggled out of bed. She grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom. She grabbed an elegant blouse and black dress skirt. She dressed to impress. The school called her and told her to substitute for the senior English class.

She clipped up her long dirty blonde hair and grabbed her tote bag with her class necessities. She headed downstairs to start breakfast. Nina had a harsh day upon her with fixing up the house. Around six in the morning, Lorelei headed upstairs to her two younger siblings' rooms. She knocked to make sure they were awake. They were getting up and came down for breakfast. Tyler was down already and eating the omelets Lorelei made.
No one questioned Lorelei's appearance. Some days she just liked to dress up. Kinsey came to the kitchen shortly after Nina and Bode. She was wearing a warm knit sweater. "Hey, like the new look." Nina started up. "Yeah, it's very "saving it for Jesus."" Tyler chuckled. "Forget your eye drops in Seattle?" Kinsey remarked. Lorelei looked up from the lesson plans she was studying on her computer. Tyler looked at her and gulped. "Guys, same team. Omelets? It's eggshell free." Nina cheered. "I'm not hungry." Kinsey denied. "You'll need the energy Kins." Lorelei pushed her own plate to Kinsey who took nibbles of it. Anything was better than nothing.
Nina tried using the garbage disposal but it made weird clanking sounds. Nina reached in as she turned it off and pulled out black grime. "Oh, god. That's disgusting." Bode announced, covering his mouth. "You're so lucky it's a week before your school starts." Kinsey called him out. "Someone has to map out the house." Bode shrugged. "How are we in boarding school and aren't even boarding?" Tyler scoffed out a laugh. "They also have day students." Nina tried to be optimistic. "Listen, guys. Hey, going to a new school, starting in the middle of the year, sure, it might suck, but, also it might not." "Stellar pep talk, Mom." Kinsey raised her brows sarcastically. "Yeah, wait, let me write that down." Tyler added. "Chill it with the comments, you two. She's trying and mourning just as much if not more than you. She's been where you are with high school, maybe not with the same circumstances but believe it or not, she is trying to understand." Lorelei defended Nina. Nina smiled at her in appreciation. "What did I forget? Permission slips? Ty, you have that hockey thingamabob." "Medical consent." Tyler clarified. "Already turned it in. I put my signature, since I'm technically also their guardian. And I sent an email to the Assistant Head Principal so they can catch up on whatever they've missed." Lorelei told them. "Really? Great. Thanks Lore." Tyler spoke. "Okay, next time, I got it, just ask me, okay?" Nina sighed. Duncan entered the kitchen. "Good morning, guys! Gonna head back to work in Boston. Never fear, Uncle Dunc'll be back tomorrow." Lorelei looked at the time. "Okay guys time to go." "Later." Kinsey said, getting up with her bag. "Bye, Uncle Duncan!" Tyler called out following Kinsey. "Bye Locke." Lorelei said to Duncan. "See ya Locke." Duncan replied.
