It all started back when they were still in middle school . They were classmates too back then , going back and forth taking the first and second place on each tests . Sunghoon was never that type to care about rankings , so did Minsoo .

But she was forced to .

Sunghoon saw how Minsoo worked so hard to stay number one . She attended after school academies , joined the school committees , not athletic but trained herself to be one , and even scarificed her holidays to study . It was all because she couldn't reach Minhee's level .

Minhee has always been the better twin , although she's older by 10 minutes . When they were younger , her parents would pay more attention on Minhee and would give him everything while all she got was their older brother's old belongings .

It's understandable because she came from a well-off family and they value education more than anything else , but the cost of being unfair was too much . Was she not smart ? No . She's smarter than everyone else , but her parents can't seem to acknowledge that .

She grew up alone , with no love and affections from her family . She could still remember being punished for laughing at Minhee because he got dirt in his eyes , or that one time her parents hit her with a leather belt for asking Minhee to play with her .

She was the black sheep , atleast in their eyes .

There are times when she saw siblings playing together and wondered , can't she be like them ? They had a brother , the eldest of three . Step-brother , since they came from different fathers , but still a brother to her . She has only saw him once in her life , and that was back in middle school when he was preparing to study abroad . 

Even back then , she couldn't spend that one day with him .

She was chased away to her room , being told that she should be upstairs studying than sitting in the living room with them . She could only bid the eldest a goodbye from her window .

Sunghoon has always been there since day 1 . Although they had a huge fight in middle school , he was willing to be where she would go to .

Sunghoon was walking to their class one day in middle school and saw trails of blood , leading him to the stairs . There , he saw Minsoo with her nose bleeding and stained uniform , her notes still in her hands .

He panicked , shaking Minsoo's body just in case she's in some kind of a more serious situation .

“ Sunghoon......I'm tired......Please.....it hurts......make it stop......make it stop......my head......please.... ” That was what she had said before passing out .

No one could even imagine how terrified he was at that time , having to rush Minsoo to the nearest hospital on his own because he knew that her family would blame her instead of getting worried .

They didn't know what happened to her , but Minhee did told them that she skipped school . She was grounded for a whole month , without them knowing that she's sick .

Since then , Sunghoon would purposedly create chaos around so that she could continue to stay in first place .

People would think it was just a coincidence that Sunghoon would be there whenever Minsoo's around , it wasn't . He's always around her , to watch over her , to protect her .

It was around summer of 11th grade when he confessed that he has been liking her for so long . Minsoo was at first , hesitant to accept him , but she wouldn't be where in her current place without him . She accepted , with a condition that they would keep it lowkey .

From the very start , he knew that she accepted him not because of mutual feelings , but because she's a lost child . She has never been loved before , and he would always be there to love her . She's only fond of the attentions and affections given from him , and he's okay with that .

He'd do anything .
