"What is this place?" I asked, my voice reflecting my disdain for the place.
"This is where I work." Cas answered, craning his neck trying to look for someone.
"Why are there so many shirtless men?" I asked, my brows furrowed.
"Uhm, probably because it's a gym?"
"A gym."
"You know, the place where people get to lift weights, pump up their muscles, get all beefed up. That sorta thing."
"I know what a gym is Cas. Why here? Why can't you look for another employment?"
"I like working here. There's so much to uhm... do?" I glared at his crooked smile.
"We're leaving." I took his right hand and pulled him towards the door where we came from.
"Cassie!" A deep masculine voice called. I turned to see a tall, blond, gray eyed guy walk hurriedly to where my husband and I stood.
"Carter! Hi. How are, ooofff." Cassie's words were muffled as the big, burly guy enveloped Cassie's body in a tight bear hug.
"Where have you been? You just suddenly vanished. I was worried about you. What happened?" The guy asked after releasing Cas, but holding him at arm's length, his nose an inch away from my Cassie's lips.
"He got married." I answered, my hands on my hips, brows still furrowed.
"That's great news!" Again, a bone crushing bear hug. I was getting really annoyed with this guy.
"To me!" I started untangling their bodies, as my chest was trying to keep all my emotions from exploding.
"To you?" The guy asked, a smirk on his face.
"Carter, this is Adonis... my ridiculously handsome husband." That instantly put a smile on my frowning face.
"I don't know about the handsome part, but yeah. Sure. Okay. Congrats. So what brings you here Cas?" I knew I hated this pompous guy.
"I was wondering if I could, well, you know... ask for my work back?" Cas started fidgeting with the straps on his duffel bag, clearly nervous.
"Gee, I'm sorry Cas. You know you can't ask for your work back..."
"Well that worked to my advantage. Thank you. Bye." I smiled and started pulling gently on Cassie's hand.
"Since it was never taken away from you. You're still employed here Cas." The guy continued.
"Really? Thanks Carter. You're a lifesaver."
"Don't I get a hug for that?" This guy was really trying my patience.
"Uhm, no. Clearly that's a violation of work ethics. An employer and..." I was cut short when Cas gave Carter a gentle hug. From Cassie's turned face, Carter had the gall to stick his tongue out at me to further infuriate me. I so wanted to punch his nose at that moment.
"Thank you Carter. So, I'm still in-charge of registration, paperworks, and the ledgers?" Cas asked, putting distance between them.
"You sure are. Same sched as always. Six in the morning, 'till three in the afternoon. Well, until something comes up and I need you to stay here for a few hours ALONE with me." Oh no, he did not say alone.
"In-case both of you forgot, Cassie is married. As his husband I have a say on whether he should spend too much time at work... especially if it comes in conflict with his quality time with me." I voiced out my disapproval.
"No worries. He will spend nine hours everyday with me anyway... unsupervised." Carter chuckled.
"No he will not. I am coming to work with him everyday." I pulled Cassie tightly to my side.
"You're funny little guy. In-case you can't read... members only." Carter pointed at a sign near the entrance.
"Fine! Sign me up. Take my money... but you're not getting a single second alone with my husband." I pulled out my wallet, ready to pay whatever it cost to get into this asshole's list of patrons.
"Don't be so sure. I have my ways. Cassie, sign your uhm... husband up. Can't have him crying all the way home now can we." Carter laughed before turning away.
"What a jerk." I whispered to Cassie who slapped my left shoulder to silence me.
"Oh and Cassie? Please come into the back office tomorrow, and arrange the folders there for payroll. You know... the room that's off limits to non-employees, and hidden from prying eyes? I'll meet you there bright and early tomorrow."
"You got it boss." Cassie replied.
"And Cassie?" He turned to look directly at me. "Welcome back." Then winked before walking towards the weights room.
