ON THE SIDE IS FYN--

I awoke to the sounds of rain tapping against my window. I stretched and unplugged my phone from the charger. I turned the screen on and my eyes literally almost popped out of my head. 10:37am. I got ready as fast as I could and sprinted down stairs.
"Why the hell didn't you get me up?" I shout at my mum as I'm packing my bag.
"Well I figured that you don't care about your education anyway." she said not moving her eyes off of the newspaper she was holding. I muttered a few words under my breath as I slammed the front door and walked incredibly fast to school. When I reached the front desk in reception, I had to fill in a form.

Reason for being late.

My mothers a bitch. But of course if I put that I'd be disowned so instead I put family problems.
The bell for break and just chimed so I made my way to the canteen where everyone was sitting. When I sat down everybody said some sort of greeting and then returned to their phones. my phone chimed to see a message from my mum.

From Mother:

You better be at school.

I groaned and started to write a reply when someone brushed aside my hair and whispered in my ear "So you reply to other peoples messages I see."
I instantly recognised the voice as the one and only James McVey. He sat down beside me with a small smile fixated on his face. Everyone in the table were staring at us like we had ten heads or something. Brad stared at me until I met his gaze and gestured to talk to me elsewhere. I stood up and James looked up at me, his eyes darting between Brad and I before smiling again and turning back to the group. Brad clutched my hand and pulled me behind the pillar that stood in the centre of the canteen.
"I'm either really oblivious or something happened since he beat up Ben."
I told him everything from him apologising for hitting Ben to him smuggling me out of school to him trying to kiss me last night.
After I told him everything he just stared at me processing all the information before his face turned into a huge grin. "You, Miss Johnson have landed yourself a place in James's heart."
"What now?" I said completely confused.
"Well first he came to your house and apologised! I have been best friends with him for long enough to know that James doesn't apologise to just anyone. Secondly he took you to that coffee shop he takes absolutely no one to. Hell, I don't even know where it is. And then he tried to kiss you after calling your 'outing' a date. Fyn, how haven't you noticed this?"
I felt my heart flutter a tiny bit when I realised that I could possibly like James. I immediately refrained myself when I realised what he's capable of. I've seen it too many times to ever want to feel it.
"So would you date him?" Brads voice brought me out of my trance.
"I don't think so. Brad you know what he's capable of. He kicks around girls emotions like they're footballs."
He looked round the pillar at James laughing with the people on the table.
"But when he was with them he never did that." he said gesturing to James laughing and joking with our friends.
"He is normally the most cold hearted boy but he seems so. I can't find the right word." He paused for a moment before his eyes lit up. "He seems so different."
I gave him a questionable glance.
"He seems warm he's not glaring at anyone and he generally looks happy for once in a long time." Brad noticed my expression of confusion and worry. "Look, Fyn. I don't want to bring any input into this thing you two have but, I think James has changed in the last 48 hours because of you. I would cherish that if I were you."
"Thank you Brad." I smiled never glancing away from the back of James's head. Just before we made our way back to the table I hugged Brad tight and thanked him for being a great advice giver.

We approached the table with James darting his eyes between Brad and I again. I smiled widely at him and he returned it slinging his arm over me and pulling me close.

I weighed the pros and cons of letting myself fall for him.

Pros-
I could get over Ben
James was practically my knight in a leather jacket.
He was perfect
He was flirty
Oh my god his smirk
I could so get used to being this close to him

Cons-
He could break my heart like he did to all of those other girls he 'fell' for.
