They're everywhere,

with eyes that look like they could consume you with a stare.

A mouth that could be no kinder than the eyes.

The nose that would kill you for air.

Ears that yearn to hear your cries.

And a skin rougher than their warfare.

So, you follow blindly,

to a path that makes your heart bloom with despair.

Your thoughts obsessed by the stranger's opinions,

too busy living in someone else's shoes,

that you forget; they don't fit you.

So, you trip and amuse,

in front of strangers who find you more entertaining than their to-dos.

Colourful personalities on the edge of exploding,

it's dreadful to see it so controlled.

So, you stopped following.

You covered your hair with a piece of cloth.

Whispers roared through the streets,

message spreading faster than your heartbeats.

The dread settled, and so did the whispering commotion.

Silence fell like a blanket as a knife hovered over your core,

held by people you could remove with a simple subtraction.

But tell me what you feared more,

The change or that stranger's reaction?
