Legalist looked up. The sky was no longer so dark. And the rain was starting to clear out now.

"Ailea," he said, sitting next to her lifeless form, looking at the hints of blue beginning to peep out from the clouds. He exhaled.

"We won, Ailea."

He didn't know how long it was until she finally began to stir , and when she opened her eyes, she peered up at him tiredly. "Did we win?" she asked.

Legalist smiled, blinking away the tears from his eyes as he delicately held her form close to him. "Yeah, we did."

Aileana closed her eyes again and took a big breath. "Good," she whispered.

"If that ever happens again, you're not allowed to fight with me anymore," Legalist said.

Aileana rolled her eyes the best she could. "As if I'd ever listen to you," she huffed.

Legalist patted her back. "Glad to see you're feeling better already," he said.

And then they heard footsteps from the far distance, and the faint rushing of wingbeats.

Doug practically did a nosedive into the ground. "LEGALIST, AILEANA!" he shouted, skidding to a very slippery stop on the mud. "I saw the lightning beacon back at home, and we all came over to see if you guys needed any help!"

And then he saw how positively battered both of them looked.

"Aileana, what happened... to... you...?" Doug said cautiously.

Legalist snorted. "She did an idiot move and decided to exert all her energy into making a flash storm," he said, thumping her on the back.

"What else was I supposed to do? We were both gonna die if I didn't!" Aileana retorted.
