On the day after the event with Andre, Elsa, Anna, and the Dragon Hunters reinforced the perimeter of the palace to ensure its security. They worked tirelessly, setting up additional barriers and strengthening the existing ones. The Dragon Hunters, known for their expertise in defence, shared their knowledge and techniques with Elsa and Anna, further enhancing the palace's security measures.
The princess sat in her old room from when she was a castle guard. She watched the guards line up outside in the courtyard around the castle. Most of them were assigned to a specific position while on duty. Some guards stood at the main entrance, ready to inspect anyone who wished to enter the castle grounds. Others patrolled the perimeter, keeping a watchful eye for any signs of potential threats. As the princess observed their unwavering dedication, she felt a sense of reassurance, knowing that her kingdom was well protected. The door opened as Anna knocked. "Hey, we saw you staring out the window, wondering if you wanted to help. Isabel said, You were pretty good when you were with us." she replied. Her smile faded when she saw her friend's expression.
"I promise you, Andre won't be able to hurt you or anyone else again," Anna calmed the teen next to her on the windowsill. "Anna, it's not just him. Pitch may be out there too. Then there's that magical spell we saw last night." Anna reassured her friend, "I understand your concerns, but we have a plan in place to protect ourselves from Pitch and any other threats. We won't let them harm us or our kingdom." She held her friend's hand tightly, conveying her determination and confidence.
"Well, all of that aside... There's a party tonight, my sister, and I thought you'd want to take your mind off certain things... Isa and Kalani will be there since I think her parents are staying to help the guards, and you might meet someone your age."Anna sighed quietly. "You have no obligation to come, but you deserve a change of pace after what's happened." Anna's words hung in the air, filled with genuine concern for her friend. She knew that attending the party could provide a much-needed distraction from the recent events and an opportunity to meet new people. With a reassuring smile, she added, "Plus, it could be a chance for you to have some fun and create new memories. We'll be there to support you, no matter what you decide."
Erica looked up slowly at Anna sadly. "Parties aren't my thing," she said, curling her body up a bit. "I'm not quite ready to meet anyone yet." Anna nodded understandingly, realising that Erica needed more time to heal and process her emotions. "I completely understand, Erica," she replied gently. "Taking things at your own pace is important, and we'll always be here for you whenever you're ready. Just remember that the invitation is open whenever you feel like stepping out of your comfort zone."
"I have an outfit waiting for you if you decide to join us." Anna smiled softly as she said, "But it's your choice, remember." Erica nodded quietly and stared out the window silently as Anna left. Erica appreciated Anna's understanding and support, knowing that she had a friend who respected her need for space. As she watched Anna walk away, Erica felt a mix of gratitude and uncertainty about when she would be ready to take that step forward.
That night
"Erica, come on. You've got to come with us. It won't be fun if you don't." Isabel begged as she sat next to her best friend. Erica sighed and looked at Isabel with a hint of hesitation in her eyes. She knew that her best friend wouldn't give up easily, but she couldn't help but feel uncertain about joining them.
While she stared out the window again despite Isabel's pleading, Erica said, "I already told you I wouldn't go." Isabel's face fell, disappointment evident in her eyes. She reached out and gently squeezed Erica's hand, her voice filled with genuine concern as she said, "I understand if you're not up for it, but just know that we'll miss you and we want you to be a part of this special moment with us."
