it was a hot summer day on the beach, and a young teenager is arguing about slushies and popsicles.

"hey, ill take your cherry slushy, and a strawberry popsicle." a girl with blue eyes and brown hair asks the man.

"anything else?" he mutters.

"uhm..." her eyes wander up to the sign where it says 'coffee'

she makes a face, disgusted at what the man uses for coffee.

"no thanks," she quietly says.

"$12.00." he informs her.

she looks at her baby.

"what about without the popsicle?"

he judges her. "$4.00"

she cringes and gives in.

"is that yours?" he asks, looking at her.

"yep. her name is rory."

"oh im sorry ma'am. i thought you were like 16," he chuckles.

"... i am." she mumbles.

she walks away, as this happens every time.

another man walks up to her.

"hey im sorry about that. their stuff isn't even that great." he laughs.

"tell me about it! their coffee sounds so gross!" she says, trying to hold back her giggle.

"a slushy AND coffee?" he looks confused.

"yeah," she says with pride. "hey, im lorelai."

"im luke."

that was the beginning of a friendship.

maybe more.

who could tell at this point?

"hey, i have a diner. let's get away from this crusty musty beach. you can have some coffee. on the house!" luke conveys.

she felt safe with him. very safe. as if her heart was going to explode.

she followed him to the diner. she knew she shouldn't follow strangers. this she was aware of. i mean, she did get pregnant at 15. but this was different. she knew it would all be ok.

"wow, you weren't lying." she said, with surprise.

"you would doubt me?" he raises an eyebrow.

she chuckles. "no no, it's not like that. i just have trust issues after what happened with rorys dad. "

"rory?"

she explains, "my baby."

she takes a sip of the coffee he made.

"oh my god this is fantastic!" she exclaims.

he looks at her in confidence, as she exchanges the sweet, flirty look.

"what's your sign?" she asks, looking at the menu.

"scorpio," he tells her.

she rips off the 'scorpio' section from the menu, and writes something down.

"here. carry it with you for good luck." she says, running off.

"bye luke!"

he looks at her with a grin. he put the note in his bag.
