time skip, rory is now 9 years old. (makes lorelai 27, luke 36)

"please, luke." rory pleaded.

"you're nine years old!" luke stated.

"i know. can i please have some coffee?" she asked.

"you're just like your mother." he chuckled.

"yay!" she screams in delight.

"please, luke." lorelai copied exactly what rory said.

"you think it's gonna work for you?" he laughed.

"yeah," lorelai blinked ever so lovingly to convince him.

"okay." he gave in.

"two coffees." he handed them their daily coffee.

"love you!" lorelai said to him.

"hm?" he asks, hoping she would repeat her words.

"oh nothing." she passes it off.

rory looks around. "wait, there's nobody here!"

"uno??" lorelai asks.

"you're on!" rory says with excitement.

"hey luke, wanna play with us? you can deal."

"i guess," he mutters.

rory excitedly passes him the cards.

"1, 1, 1." he counts every time he passes out the cards.

lorelai frowns. "exchange, please."

"this is uno, you don't get to exchange." he sounds annoyed.

"please? ill give you a stale donut!" she begs.

he kindly looks at her. "fine."

she knew exactly how to get him to do whatever she wanted. and he would do anything for her.

"hmm." rory says, looking at her cards luke dealt her while arguing with lorelai.

"done." she informs them.

"damn it." lorelai mutters.

"language!" rory scoffs.

"draw," lorelai says to luke.

"you sure you don't have one that could go on top of the yellow seven?" luke doubts her.

"dirty!" lorelai hits his arm.

"seriously." he tells her.

"yeah. im not lying!" she wanders her eyes off.

"show me your cards, then." he jokes around.

"that would be cheating, technically," rory chimes in to her mom's favor.

"fine." he deals her another card.

"ooh, yes!" lorelai puts down a wild card.

"the color is green!" she exclaims.

"don't you have somewhere to be?" luke asks.

"nope, it's a sunday, baby."

"do you guys want waffl-"

"waffles!" an excited rory screams.

"that's a yes." lorelai whispers in his ear.

"that kind of feels good," he thought to himself, slightly catching feelings.
