"But I could use you like you said." I added with my face devoid of emotions.

He was about to say something when I raised my hand to stop him. "I need to think." I said and looked towards the food in front of me absentmindedly.

I saw his hand slide on the table and place a piece of paper, which I presume is his calling card. "Call me, but I hope it won't take long." he said and rose.

I looked at him blankly.

"The party is two weeks from now. We need to talk about how we're gonna act or how our story started and anything about that. We need our answers to sync." he said coldly and walked past where I seat.

I didn't move an inch because of thinking.

He's right. I need him. I shouldn't show people that I'm that vulnerable.

But why does he need me, anyway? I mean, why do I need to show up as his fiancé?

I sighed when I couldn't think of a reason. I picked up the piece of paper he left.

'Rhandall Ardon C. Delmont, CEO of Concielo Chain of Hotels,' I read with my eyes and below it had his phone number written. I didn't bother to read all that's printed on the card and put it in my bag.

I looked at my, now, cold food and sighed. I didn't have the appetite to continue eating anymore.

I picked up my phone and saw that the call was still on. Selene didn't even bother to turn the call off! Did she hear everything? Tss.

This woman doesn't even know the meaning of privacy.

I put the phone on my ear. I winced when I heard her screaming and moved the phone away from my ears.

"Will you shut up, Selene?" I spoke though my phone's microphone and put the phone back to my ears.

"I've been screaming while walking on this sidewalk to our office building to get your freaking attention! My throat is now soar, but you could've seen the face of every stranger staring at me." she exclaimed and laughed hysterically.

I sighed and went to the counter to pay for the food I ordered.

"I cannot believe how stupid you are." I said and shook my head, trying not to laugh too hard.

"You could've just ended the call and called again." I added.

"Oh, yeah." she said as if she just learned something new and knowledgeable. "Why didn't I think about that? Wow." she sounded astonished.

"Tsk. Did you hear everything we talked about?" I changed the subject when I remembered the proposition of that man.

"Well, I did." she said and giggled. "Sorry about that, I just thought I could hear something juicy." she added.

"What should I do? Should I approve to his proposition?" I asked.

"No, not yet." she paused, "You should talk to him first. I know you could benefit from it but you need to know why you need to show up as his fiancé. We don't know, maybe he's gonna do something to you. He might be hot but that doesn't mean we, you could trust him. He's practically still a stranger." she said in a serious tone, gone the hysterical woman.

"That's what I thought, too." I replied.

"Okay, I need to go now. I need to go back to work. Bye." she said in a dismissing tone.

"Alright, bye." I said and hung up.

Selene can be like an idiotic woman, but she can give good advices when she's serious. That's what I like about her, she knows how to balance and control her emotions.
