"So Jake is in Duskwood?" Justin asked in shock.

"Y-Yeah." I stuttered.

He was in Duskwood all this while, so close to me, yet I couldn’t help him.

"Let’s go Justin."

"Where ma’am?"

"Bar Aurora."

"I think you should first eat something ma’am… you haven’t even changed your clothes from last night." Justin frowned.

"I don’t have time for that! Jake needs me!" I exasperated.

"No ma’am. I won’t let you go anywhere unless you eat something." He said sternly.

"Ugh… fine!"

I quickly changed my clothes, made a sandwich, shoved it in my mouth and ate it like it was the last one on the planet.

I grabbed Justin by his arm, pulled him outside the motel, ignoring Lilly’s shocked and worried look, pushed him inside the car and drove off to the Aurora, all in one breath.

I didn’t even pay attention to Justin’s million questions. I had enough unanswered questions of my own. My only focus was Jake. I drove like was I was in a car race. People were giving me ‘are you crazy’ looks but I couldn’t care about them.

We reached the bar, got out of the car, my eyes glued to the laptop screen as I was searching for Jake’s exact location.

"It’s in those bushes over there." I looked up from my screen and nodded towards the bushes.

"Bushes?"

I ran towards the bushes, searching for Jake or anything that could lead me to him. After searching for a few minutes, a spotted a phone lying near the bushes.

I picked it up. The screen was broken and the phone was still on, probably because of the damage due to the broken screen.

And there it was, those 20s of messages I had sent Jake. It was Jake’s phone! No one was reading the messages I had sent. No one. The last activity done through his phone was sending a message- to me, asking for help.

I fell down on my knees, clutching the phone to my chest, feeling defeated. Justin came to me, he understood the situation but didn’t say anything.

It was silent for some time, only the sound of my silent cries were heard. Never in my life had I felt this clueless and lost before.

"Crying won’t help me, I know. Come with me." I sighed and wiped my tears as I got up from the ground.

"Where to, ma’am?"

I rushed towards the Aurora, inside the bar, and thankfully Phil was there too. He was cleaning the counter. His face lit up like fireworks as soon as he saw me.

"Hey! May I help you with anything, sweet heart?" He grinned.

"Yes, you may, Phil. That’s why I am here."

"So tell me, what can I do for you?"

"I want to take a look at the CCTV footage of the CCTV camera that’s there on the entrance of your bar, no questions please, I don’t have time."

"Ohh, okay, sweet heart. Please follow me."

He took us to some room at the back of the bar and sat in front of one of the many computers kept there.

"What time?" Phil looked up at me.

"What?"

"What time’s footage do you want to see, sweet heart?"
