The letter

Pacing back and forth in her apartment trying to think of ways to even approach this letter to Nicky. She knew that the idea of just being like heyyy I'm in a cartel please don't tell Alex wouldn't go down swimmingly. The blondie knew it had to be clear enough that the main goal was just to be able to tell someone, to get it off her chest that was riddled with anxiety of letting anyone in on her current situation. Even if I was just Nicky she was spilling it too but Piper wasn't stupid she was fully aware of their pact and how close both Vause and Nichols had gotten since her own release. 

But she had to tell someone. Plus she needed someone on her side as Laura was getting a little too clingy for Piper's liking. She obeyed the rules and followed them but that didn't mean she had to like the girl enough to spend every waking moment of her day with her. Finally sitting down pen shaking as every word is scratched onto the paper, words, and sentences forming inked across a scrappy piece of paper the girl had found in her work bag. It felt like an eternity passed before she sat back, a page filled with inked words and crossed out blurs of black ink and a very clear ending of don't tell Alex. Scribbled at the bottom of the page in bold letters, ink leaking into her table. Piper spent a good few moments trying to scrub it out of her wooden table. 

"I will tell Alex" she pauses. Smiling at the thought of her raven-haired wonder. 

 " When the time is right and she will be safe" she whispered out loud to herself as if to bring a false sense of comfort. 

The letter was bold. Piper knew what she was asking of Nicky but she figured the woman would think the chance of Alex getting hurt or worse killed would out way the anger she would have for Piper asking her to lie to her best friend. The phone buzzed it was Laura with details of their next client. This time a wink emoji was added at the end. This caused Piper to roll her eyes and take a deep breath. 

"Get it together Pipes, you are putting up with this for Alex whether she will ever see it that way or not" muttering to herself as she responds back will "okay See you there". No added emojis, truth be told Piper was still struggling to get used to technology since her release from Litchfield. 

Getting dressed, putting on her lacy black dress and rather high heels which clicked against her marble floor.  This client was particular about how the girls looked. Before leaving the apartment, she slips a photo of Alex into her bra. To keep her lover close. Griping onto the letter for Nicky she heads out to meet Laura at the hidden location. 

At Litch Alex was up to her own chaotic antics with Nicky. Teasing the newcomers. She was slowly once again gaining that wonderful street cred inside the cells again. Alex and Nicky were partners in crime. Walking into the bathroom with the echoes of moaning vibrating through the white slightly grungy tiles. Of course, Nicky was headfirst into a new lady's legs.  Faint pants whisper through the little breaks for breath for air. Nicky rarely needed to breathe.

"Nicky Nichols, she only just got here and you are already jumping on them like a rabbit" eyes rolled a light laughter escaped her lips as she leaned into the sink to fix her lips in the mirror. 

A muffled chuckle came from the stall Nicky was occupying. Only a few moments later a rather skinny girl who looked to be recovering from a drug addiction briefly glanced over at Alex before darting back to her cell block. Nicky comes out smiling wide. 

"Aw you jealous Vause?" she teases wiping her mouth with the sleeve of her uniform. 

Shaking her head slightly still giving Nicky a look, eyebrow raised. "I repeat she only just got here" once again a laugh escaped this time leaning against the sink getting a proper look at her messy-haired best friend. 

"I gotta catch them all Vause," she says winking at the raven-haired woman in front of her.  

"I'm always here if you need to scratch an itch Vause" she teased knowing she was waiting for Pipes. 

"I don't know where you've been" Vause teased. This was her polite way of saying no thank you.  

"Have you heard from blondie anyways?" Nicky questions her now washing her hands and mouth with cold water from the tap next to Alex. 

Shaking her head and concerned face lingering. "No. She's been oddly silent with me". 

Alex hadn't heard from Pipes in a hot second. She knew the woman was busy with her new job, even though she wasn't exactly sure how a book assistant's job could be that hardcore but never wanted to question her love. A vacation was mentioned during the last visitation. "maybe she's still on that holiday she mentioned, the one I told you about the other day?" Alex shrugged the concern drifting away.  A count had been called and both ladies groaned. It seemed to be occurring more often these days with all the new inmates not following the guidance. 

"If you ever heard from her, you would tell me right?" Alex asks Nicky. 

"Of course, why would I ever have a reason to hide that from you?" confusion washed over her face. 

*A few days later* 

"A LETTER FOR YOU NICHOLS" Headly mutters walking past the woman's bunk. 

"A letter?" she mutters. Opening a rather small letter crumpled through the lovely postal system. 

"Hey Nicky, it's me, Piper. I have something to tell you" caught her interest a soft smile danced across her lips as it was her dear friend who had sent a letter. 

The smile was short-lived the further she read into the letter.  A mixture of confusion and anger drifted across her features. Hurt cracked over the surface. A hand clasped over her mouth as her eyes find the words inked in bold  "don't tell Alex" Nicky read out loud.

Alex had come in from her daily hours spent in the library. Her newest job.  About to walk straight past Nicky's bunk she heard "Don't tell Alex" it sounded rather panicked. Peeking her head around the door. 

Eyebrow raised hands on hip. "Don't tell Alex what?" voice a little authoritative as Vause glares at Nicky.
