The Element Keeper

Chapter 13

"I am dead!" James complains as we sit down on the couch, I just laugh throwing him the ice pack from my head.

"Not yet, and that was only day one.  We do this for a week, then a week off, then another week.  That is for as long as you are here." I tell him lying down.

"How is your head?" He asks.

"I don't know, ask the person who got mad because he couldn't do ten pull ups so he kicked a rock." I retort glancing at him real fast.

"I am so sorry." He tells me for the fifth time today.

"If you say sorry one more time you won't get your week off.  Understand?" I ask and he nods.

"Yes Mrs. Rose." He replied laughing.

"Mrs. Rose?" Zach asks walking in and I nod.

"Apparently I am a married teacher using my first name." I reply.

"I CALL THE TV!" Drake yelled running into the house.

"NO I CALL THE TV!" Josh yells and I hold my head.  Still having a headache from getting hit with a rock.

"Guys, shut up, Mrs. Rose got hit in the head with a rock." James tells them.

"Mrs. Rose?" Drake asks looking over at me.

"No idea." I reply still holding my head as I wait for it to stop throbbing.

"Hit in the head with a rock?" Josh asks.

"Yeah." James murmurs dragging the word out.

"How?" Drake asks sitting next to me and pulling me into his side.

"She provoked it!" James defended raising his voice and I whimper.

"How did she provoke it?" Drake asks rubbing my back.

"He couldn't do pull ups so he kicked a rock and it flew up and hit me." I mumble and Drake hears me.

"Really?  Yes, she so provoked that." He told James and I laugh and sit up not feeling like my head is about to explode.

"Well we can't all be as strong as the element keeper now can we?" James asks and I groan.

"So that is your excuse?" Zach asks sitting on the other side of me.

"Yeah, she is more powerful than us." He explains.

"She isn't as strong as us though!" Zach tells him and I nod.

"Rose why don't you go upstairs?" Drake asks me.

"Why?" I ask and he gives me a pointed look.

"Because it is about to get loud in here and you have lived through enough as it is.  You need some time to relax; you know how head aches can get.  Plus we don't know his temper, what if things get bad?" He asks tracing a scar that is hidden by my sports bra back.

"Okay, see you for dinner." I tell him kissing his cheek and leaving, before I left though I waved good bye to everyone else then disappeared around the corner and went upstairs.

"Oh hey Rose." I heard and jumped around pulling my arms up in a defensive position until I saw it was only Jax I relaxed.

"Sorry, habit." I tell him dropping my arms, and smiling apologetically.

"Its fine Rose, don't worry about it." He tells me and I smile a real smile.

"Oh thank god." I tell him

"You sure are on the topic of my pack that is here aren't you?" He asks and I look confused.

"What do you mean?" I ask and he smiles shaking his head.
